Former Chargers DE Vaughn Martin Signs With the Miami Dolphins

Former San Diego Chargers DE Vaughn Martin has signed with the Miami Dolphins, per Adam Caplan. It would have been nice to bring back Martin for some depth up front on the defensive line, but it looks like Tom Telesco will be looking in a different direction to grab that depth.

The Chargers have Cam Thomas, Kendall Reyes and Corey Liuget up front on the defensive line and have zero depth behind any of them. Was there a new rule limiting the roster size that none of us have ever heard of? If the rosters were at 35 players or something, then we might not have the 5th worst roster in the league. I wonder if King Dunlap was signed to play defensive tackle for the Chargers as well as offensive tackle.

Still waiting for that depth on the roster. I probably should wait till all the undrafted free agents let loose! We will have an attractive team to join for a lot of those undrafted guys. There are plenty of roster spots to be taken.

Getting worried about the defensive front! A lot of holes doesn’t look like Telesco will sign anyone else in free agency. Can the draft be now!

it’s just Vaughn…. maybe if Jammer or Phillips sign someone else, I will be a little sad.

      • arnie

Sometime, splitting time with players is a bad thing. If Thomas, Reyes, an Liuget are as good as we think they are, then it looks like they’re going to get all the snaps, they can handle, to prove it.

        • boltingindiego

not 4 dline you want your de line to be fresh so come 4th q time they won’t be tired and have a positive impact on the game.

          • arnie

That’s “rotation”, I talking about snaps. Cam had limited amount of them. He can’t improve if they don’t let him fail.

Also need NT. In the few games televised to Hi, Cam was pushed out of the play every play. He’s probably stronger now, can probably get NT depth with UDFA. Unless a real good prospect falls in draft.Pls ignore my name. Stupid phone upgrade messed up my alias. I’m really nativesandiegan

Definitely need more depth at nose!!

          • arnie

I agree. There are plenty to be found either during draft or after. TT gave no guarantees that cam would start, or be on the roster. He did say there would be “competition”.

Thanks for taking care of that, TT. Not!

    • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

hahahahha… dont know why this made me lol

      • Preston Niedert

Dude how much money does Miami have you would think they were close to over spending

  • http://www.facebook.com/lostkiara Stefanie Smith

He better get Danario taken care of. This is getting silly.

    • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

      +1

  • Preston Niedert

Why is nfl.com reporting that the chargers still have interests In OT Eric Winston. Unless something’s in the works. It’s no secret the chargers were looking at Winston so why bring it up.

    • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

hahahaha… because the UT wrote the same thing….i guess there is nothing really to write

  • Sergio Quintero

Clearly they want Kendall Reyes to start ahead of Martin, but some depth would have been nice to keep, I know you are cleaning the cap TT, but some good news would be nice right around this time.

  • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

You might be right Ernie, maybe after we draft our 7 dudes we look to the UDFA’s for depth, weird way to do it but for a “clearing the cap year” it’s not a bad idea. I wonder if we even try to sign any veterans, cheaper just to sign the undrafted guys.

If that is the case, wouldn’t all 7 drafted guys probably play? strange scenario

    • Sergio Quintero

Every agent and his brother will call the chargers for an invite for preseason camp, they know that 3-7 UDFA’s will make this team.

This is clearly TT’s plan.. fresh young guys for depth, learning behind guys who are going to be good solid starters for years to come. Inexpensive, too. It’s like when you only have 20 bucks in the bank, but you go to the store and try to put together a nice dinner anyway. I think we will be eating just fine next season ; )

Hope this guy doesn’t end up getting Rivers really hurt.

Light the torches… where is Telesco? Arrrgggghhh! Off to Chargers Park!!!!
I thought he was going to AT LEAST ride that cutting Gaither thing for 24 hours! SMH & LOL.

Another one of AJs projects that didn’t pan out. A Jamaican born behemoth playing college football in Canada aj once again trying to be the smartest guy in the room. That YouTube video was awesome when he tossed that trainer like a rag doll. But that strength never was matched by his technique. Im sure Kendall would have taken the starting spot anyways and it would have been nice for him to stay and work in the rotation. Oh well looks like we’ll be looking later in the draft for depth
