Barrett Jones Draft Stock Starting to Slip

Alabama offensive lineman Barrett Jones is starting to see his draft stock start to sink. He was projected to be drafted in the 2nd round and would have been a good selection for the Chargers. He is versatile and athletic. He can play all positions on the offensive line.

But recent news is indicating that Jones may not be ready for training camp and the beginning of the season. Jones had surgery to repair a lisfranc foot injury right after the national championship game, but the recovery is taking a while.

Now that teams will have to wait for him to become available and healthy, his stock could drop him to the 3rd round or possibly the 4th. He won’t be available in the immediate future, but when he becomes available, some team is going to get a strong player.

If the Chargers are willing to wait for his recovery, I wouldn’t mind one bit. He would be able to play at either guard positions and can also play at center. He could even play left tackle if we needed him to. He would add leadership to the line and toughness.

Would you wait out the injury or move onto a different prospect?

I’d rather take a small school kid

      You wouldn’t wait it out?

      • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

I would, he’s going to be solid once yes healthy

    • Cgoodness13

Lol I mean in the later rounds

  • Joel Garcia

I would rather want them draft a running back or get some help on the defensive side.

  • Sergio Quintero

Because of the injury delay I wouldn’t take him in the second, but I’m a fan, he’s a really good player, and he would clearly make a BPA in the 3rd round, and a player who could be an option if the top 3 LT’s are gone by pick 11.

  • Rob Base

I say move on much more needed depth. Great player but Telesco won’t go for it.

  • JoseSD

This Guy played RT, guard and center for two national championship winning teams. no one had a big. problem letting troutman sit. If he’s available in the 3rd I say take him as,long as a defensive player and o linemen have already be selected within the first 2 rounds

If the team is in the business of waiting, say for this guy to heal, just like Troutman last year, why not just tank the season and get the high picks for next year?
I for one hope they stick to getting the best player available concept.

Like Jose, I really like him. But 1st need good LT, cb, rb or SS, & draft him in 4th (or mid to late 3rd if trade down).
