WR Wes Welker Signs With The Denver Broncos... WELP

WELL CRAP!!

The Denver Broncos signed Wes Welker to a 2-year deal today and the AFC West champion is moving a few more steps closer to that Super Bowl.

Demayrius Thomas, Eric Decker and Wes Welker. It sounds like a good matchup for Shareece Wright, Marcus Gilchrist and…. OH!

Right now, I hate today! The Denver Broncos just got that much better. They are making that run for the Super Bowl while their young players are under cheap contracts and while Peyton Manning still has his neck screwed on right.

Again, the Denver Broncos have left me speechless with their move today. That is two straight days that they kicked us right in the balls. I will be back guys, I am going to throw up for a couple of hours and try to recompose myself.

Can someone ask Coach Mike McCoy what he thinks about the moves that his former team just did?

I was supposed to have a good day today. Things were supposed to get better! But then, look what happened! The Denver Broncos just pissed in my Cheerios all over again.

Can someone pass me that beer.

    Making myself a Maalox cocktail.

    • Sergio Quintero

If weren’t mad I’d be laughing, you did make me giggle, so thank you

  • Sergio Quintero

    Damn you Broncos!!

  • Preston Niedert

I heard about Ernie the chargers better fix that secondry and rebuild quickly cause welker is going to Denver on a two year deal.

  • tbell11

Yea I’m definitely targeting Peyton Manning in fantasy

  • Pels04

Wait, i prayed!! This shouldnt be happening……

  • http://www.facebook.com/lostkiara Stefanie Smith

The concept of rebuilding and being conservative is all well and good, but part of the game is psychological. This is why sometimes doing something like this Welker signing is worth it. It screws with your opponent’s head. We need to do something that screws with their head.

Screws with their head = Pollard? Fire a good one right back at them.

    • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

Signing Pollard just to try to hurt people = worth it

      • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

        THIS!!!

        • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

Call him The Welker Killer and give me 50K for helmet to helmet hits on Welker. Also how about signing James Harrison to be Pollards “Killing partner” lol I’d be down on a cheap vet salary for 1 year.

          • http://www.facebook.com/lostkiara Stefanie Smith

This is how it is done. Harrison and Pollard knocking people around. THAT would screw with their heads.

Add Ingram and we have ourselves the “Killing Trio”

          • JoseSD

James Harrison is old and has been rather ineffective the past two seasons, Pollard is just a younger Atari Bigby big hitter and a liability in pass coverage. Id rather they make a play for Louis Delmas

          • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

we only want them to hurt people… that is all

          • http://www.facebook.com/lostkiara Stefanie Smith

            I’m up for that too,.

          • tubbs45

who needs pass coverage if the WR are all sent to the IR list. hehehehehe

          • boltingindiego

in zone maybe but he does cover well on te’s.

          • RussinSactown

Pollard and Harrison on our defense with the young guns we already have would be the stuff nightmares are made of. Denver can’t get to the post season if half their offense is on IR by week 10

          • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

I actually think it would be quite awesome to watch and would get the CB’s a few bonus INT’s every now and then. Harrison was injured a bit last year and still put up 6 sacks and 2 FF’s.

  • Pels04

Will this force the Chargers into doing something more drastic for our secondary?

    • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

      likely not

      • tubbs45

hey wet blanket, back off my unlikely wish list!!! LOL

    • tubbs45

polard would be nice, unlikely, but id love to see welk run a little deep in the slot and polard separate his torso from his legs.

      • Pels04

        Thats what im talkin bout!!

  • http://www.facebook.com/luke.haines.7 Luke Haines

:-/ I despise the donkeys even more

  • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

Oh baby, I’m just picturing it now. One of Welker’s little 6 yard routes….turns around and Ingram rips his head off……..Who’s with me?

    • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

ok. that made me feel good. needed that

      • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

The Great small white hype must be punished, I already didn’t like Welker much but now he’s a arch enemy.

    • http://www.facebook.com/lostkiara Stefanie Smith

Raising hand–as I sip on my Maalox –I’m with ya!
Would be nice for them to think out of the box and sign Pollard.

    • RussinSactown

Here here! I’ll put $5 towards the NFL fine!

      • tubbs45

        I’ll double that with a 10 spot!

        • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

put me down for 50 if we can get harrison too.

    • http://boltbeat.com/ ChargerGirl Cindi

Ugh. I think I’m gonna barf. When are the Chargers going to announce a big name?

      • RussinSactown

We might not get a big name but hopefully we get a few good players.

    • 619chargers4life

defiantly with u on that one and maybe Butler puts a nice lick on him also trying to shoot across the middle

  • http://twitter.com/BReisinger86 Brandon Reisinger

Okay, so what I’m seeing now is Donks make it to the SB, Wes drops a bunch of passes in key situations “That is what he does in Super Bowls after all”, Donks don’t win SB. Manning retires, 2014 Donks competing for #3 in AFC West…… O.o

    • http://www.facebook.com/pete.spinning Pete Spinning

Now THAT’S a great comment.. lol.

  • Dave

Welker’s a curse. The Patriots’ big game problems started when he came. Mark my words: This is a good thing.

  • Sara

This is horrible news. I am not impressed at all with any moves we have made. It’s like Norv and AJ are still calling the shots. Every other team is locked and loaded and were the sloppy seconds. Were screwed !

    • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

Boooooo you can’t say those words! Oh my, We are obviously going to take a year to rebuild here. Stock up on our needs in the Draft. Do it again next Draft and were good.

      • http://www.facebook.com/lostkiara Stefanie Smith

Rebuild or not rebuild. They are paid to get the team in shape to win games NOW.

    • boltingindiego

we spent money last year and what did it give us bunch of guaranteed money taking cap space this year.

  • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

AZ just signed like 4 guys at once. Josh cribbs on the cards seems like a good fit for him.

  • http://www.facebook.com/lostkiara Stefanie Smith

On the lighter side of the news, reports are that Tom Brady is blowing a head fuse over Welker going to the Broncos. And I am not making this up.

    • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

ha… i would be too! i would be too!

    • http://www.facebook.com/pete.spinning Pete Spinning

It was almost worth Welker coming here so we can watch Brady stomp his feet (NOT!).. but, it’s funny.. hahaha. Maybe Wes’s wife can make a bunch of ditzy Facebook comments, like she did about Ray Lewis, so there is some negativity surrounding the signing… LMAO!

      • RussinSactown

Does Baltimore play Denver? Maybe they will lay him out “for old times sake”

  • http://www.facebook.com/lostkiara Stefanie Smith

Powers bailed on us and signed with AZ. The hits just keep on coming. Antoine Cason in AZ also.

  • tbell11

Well with CB Powers saying he’s 100% committed to taking his visit to San Diego, he just signed to Arizona. Was anyone calling his bluff?

  • Happee_Bumpee

    That says it all…eh?

  • http://www.standupforkids.org blackroseMD1

Can Tebow be converted to Safety?

    • RussinSactown

      A very slow safety

      • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

        Haha

      • http://www.standupforkids.org blackroseMD1

If Tebow were signed by the Raiders, would they both stop existing because they cancelled each other out?

      • Brandon Rios

        Slower than Rivers?

        • DougM

We get it, you’re done with Rivers. Save your keyboard – and us – from further torture.

  • http://www.facebook.com/pete.spinning Pete Spinning

Well look at the bright side.. at least we know that he’s not going to torch Cason, Bigby, and Jammer… and we at least have a long shot to actually get guys who can cover him…
    AND…. that’s all I got for now.

  • http://twitter.com/PowderBlue619 Saul Lopez

    Fuuuudddgggeee!!!

  • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

I knew the Hoody would go sign another white guy to replace Welker lol, Hoody loves him some white duders. So Amedola is 5’11 183 and started 8 games last year with 666 yards (evviiiiil) and 3 Td’s and he’s worth over 30 Million? No wonder TT doesn’t want to sign any FA’s

    • http://www.facebook.com/lostkiara Stefanie Smith

See the mind games these teams do to each other? Welker got $12 mill over 2 years, so the Pats go give a guy they don’t even really know $31 million over 5 years–just more than Welker.

Mind games. We need to lob a few Denver’s way. They have been winning the mind screw with stealing Vasquez, etc etc. I wish we could get Ed Reed, but we won’t. Doesn’t matter that he is older. It’s his dynamic. People are scared of him.

Sign Pollard, and any big guy known to knock people around.

      • boltingindiego

its less guaranteed then welker by 2 mil. ITs a gamble but if amendola can stay healthy hes a younger and faster welker.

  • http://www.facebook.com/lostkiara Stefanie Smith

What does the Chargers’ management think is too much money? How much would Pollard ask for? Is it that out in left field to consider signing this guy?

  • 619chargers4life

well here E, here is a sip of my brew. lol. as i sip and read this article, all i can think of is when the Eagles signed a boat load of players like what were seeing from the Den. now. didnt they just flop out. manning is a playoff choke artist . can u say one and done. all those playoff appearances and 1 and i mean 1 SB. all those records and 1 SB. im just trying to look at the bright side . he aint getting in any younger my dude. time isnt on his side. his neck is made of glass. one good shot and he may never play again. i dont wish any pain or any injuries on any player . but i will always wonder how long that neck will last.

  • Lee

    cardinals signed powers….

    • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

      Well sigh

  • DougM

It’s tough to read all of these negative comments about the first couple days of free agency. JoseSD has his head on straight, but there are far too many people panicking out there. No one big signing is going to help the Chargers. It’s far better to be smart with their money. The Broncos have to go crazy with Manning near the end of his career. They also have a team set up to go after some big FAs – there’s a good, young base there. The Chargers need to build up their good, young base before taking that next step. It may not take a total rebuilding, but it may take a year to get the books straight.

And besides, there are plenty of stories about how these big signings don’t work out. Do a quick google search. Of the many that popped up, Tim Kawakami had a good article. Take a deep breath and have a good read!

    http://blogs.mercurynews.com/kawakami/2013/03/10/the-nfls-nnamdi-lesson-big-free-agent-spending-looks-great-in-march-but-has-no-connection-to-actual-success/

    • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

      Good read

    • JoseSD

Just reading this now, thanks for the compliment lol. I feel like I’m one of the lone voices of reason on here while so many on here are acting like chicken little thinking the sky is falling. This isn’t Major League Baseball where you can almost buy a Championship. A star player may be a product of his system and be a complete bust with a new team that broke the bank for him. The sad case is that AJ left a big mess when he left. Not having already locked up Vasquez sucks and we may be in trouble again next year with Butler. Championship teams build the core of their teams through the draft and supplement with the right type of complimentary players in free agency. The super bowl isn’t won in the offseason

  • Ignatius

And to think that the Chargers were the first one to sign him as an undrafted free agent. As I recalled, AJ Smith brought him in and Cam Cameron was keen on keeping him but at the time there wasn’t a slot available because there was a pretty good WR corps (except for Eric Parker) so they hoped that he cleared waivers and sign him to a practice contract, when Cam Cameron knew he was mas as hell and so they said on the radio airways that one of the reason for leaving the team for a HC job at Miami was his displeasure of AJ Smith. Anyways, it’s a bitter moment because we could’ve had him and given the team a great WR instead of bums like Eric Parker, Buster Davis, Robert Meachem… And the list goes on and on.

  • 1961 Fan

First Vasquez from the Bolts and now Welker from the Pats; it looks like six easy wins in the West Division for the Broncos.
    * A footnote on history: Welker got cut by the Chargers years ago!
