The San Diego Chargers added another member to the offensive line today through free agency with the signing of former Buffalo Bills OG Chad Rinehart, per Michael Gehlken. He arrived in San Diego last night and it will be official after taking a physical.
Rinehart was with the Bills last season and spent time with current Chargers/former Bills OL coach Joe D’Alessandris and now should get an opportunity to start with the Chargers. Rinehart was the backup to Andy Levitre last season and could have been the starter for them this coming season with Levitre gone, but we brought him over to the left coast.
Rinehart was a 3rd round pick in 2008 by the Washington Redskins and has already spent time with 2 different teams. This will be his 3rd team.
In 2010, he was arrested for public intoxication in Iowa after he pulled on a locked door at some pizza joint, triggering an alarm. He refused to take a breath test and was taken in after that. Let’s take the guy out to Hoboken out in PB, to get some pizza and brew!
6-foot-5, 321 yards and knows D’Alessandris’ system. He is entering his 7th season and has 21 starts under his belt. He is recovered from a hairline leg fracture that he suffered last season.
