Former Jacksonville Jaguars CB Derek Cox will be visiting the club on Friday, but he does have a stop over in New Orleans in between visits, per Michael Gehlken. We should have former Colts CB Jerraud Powers in town already today.
Cox would be an immediate starter on the roster if he were to join the team. We are searching far and wide for help in the secondary. It looks like we have already moved on from Antoine Cason and Tom Telesco is looking to bring on some different guys to play in the secondary.
Of all the names that have been rumored to the Chargers in the secondary, I feel that Cox would be the best option. He has good size, standing at 6-foot-1, and could battle with some of the receivers in this division.
While with the Jaguars last season, Cox started 12 games and had 60 tackles and 4 interceptions. He has had trouble staying healthy though. Last season he ended his season with a knee injury and the previous season he only played in 6 games.
He would be a nice player for the Chargers to add in the secondary. He could start next to either Shareece Wright or Marcus Gilchrist. One of those young corners has to step it up. We probably will spend a draft pick on a corner as well that could compete for a starting job.
