Denver Broncos Sign OG Louis Vasquez

WTF!!! Mandatory Credit: Kirby Lee/Image of Sport-USA TODAY Sports

So far this looks like a bad day for the San Diego Chargers and free agency is only 45 minutes in. The Chargers lost the Andy Levitre sweepstakes to the Tennessee Titans and now they have lost Louis Vasquez to the rival Denver Broncos! OUCH!

OUCH!!!!!

This is not a good look that we have rolling right now. The Chargers better get scrambling for some help for Philip Rivers, because this is getting pretty dang UGLY!

So……

I am left speechless with this move right now. We were too busy claiming Fozzy Whittaker from the Arizona Cardinals today and we dropped the ball on our own free agent. Oh yea, we signed TE John Phillips too! BIG TIME!!!

We don’t even have Levitre to lean on anymore. We better work are way over to sign a left tackle or over to Brandon Moore to get some sort of something in front of Philip Rivers. I am pretty sure Philip Rivers is pissed!

Not a good start Tom Telesco. The vets in the AFC West are schooling you right now!

We better get rolling on something soon. The Chargers fans are getting restless. RESTLESS!

Oh please someone help us! Goodbye, Louis Vasquez! I pretty much hate your guts now for sleeping with the enemy.

    FUCK!

    • RussinSactown

That about covers it. I keep hearing he didn’t fit the zone blocking scheme but watching talent leave is not a good thing.

    • http://www.standupforkids.org blackroseMD1

Yep. Not a great start to the Telesco/McCoy era so far.

  • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

    Doh

  • tbell11

God Damn it man, if OG Moore isn’t in a Charger uniform ima be pissed

    • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

We must know of some secret guard somewhere, watch they just use the late picks we draft last year for both guard spots.

      • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

        some secret agent?

      • tbell11

Right now we have molk and the OG we drafted last year as our starters

        • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

          Bench press champion oh ya

  • Cgoodness13

    Son of beech!!!!

  • Enrique

Damn I pitch in $20 crack that wallet spanos

  • http://www.facebook.com/lostkiara Stefanie Smith

AJ Smith could have done as well as what is going on here.

    • RussinSactown

AJ would have let him leave with that “Whatever” look and then pick up another guy with great character but needing surgery.

  • davacho

i am so pissed off that i can’t even see straight.

  • Rob Base

That hurts I feel like crying why the Donkies? Why?

    • tiiiiiiiiiiit11

      To a division rival…….awesome

  • DougM

When Vasquez said he was testing the market, he was telling us that he was gone.

  • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

Watch we sign James Harrison for something crazy like that…….

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1672216122 Daryl Peek

Warmack or Cooper will now likely be the pick at 11

    • DougM

Yeah. Although we lost on Levitre, at least it was a team in the top 10 picks ahead of us. Makes it more possible for good OL to fall to #11.

    • http://www.facebook.com/pete.spinning Pete Spinning

      As Fonzie would say… Correctamundo!

  • Cgoodness13

What ever, we can pursue cheaper guards anyways

  • JoseSD

Who the hell is Fozzy Whitaker

    • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

Most likely one of Whiz’s dudes he likes from his practice squad in AZ, he can’t be RM’s backup though….Never heard of him

  • blu3ny3llow

What the hell is going on out there!!!!!!!!!!

  • RussinSactown

So is that guy we drafted with the torn pec fit in a zone blocking scheme?

    • http://www.facebook.com/lostkiara Stefanie Smith

Wish the Chargers’brain trust could answer that question.

    • blu3ny3llow

I looked up his draft profile and it says he us nott a fit for ZBS…hes more of a pure power blocker……

  • http://www.facebook.com/lostkiara Stefanie Smith

This Fozzy is supposed to help out Matthews? Aww man, this is really dumb.

  • Trgraham

Get over it this is a business and the chargers didn’t have the cap space to sign Vazquez or any other big name OL free agent. Blame AJ or anyone else from the previous regime but get off of Toms back!

    • http://www.facebook.com/lostkiara Stefanie Smith

Yes, they did. You get over it and get out a calculator. There was enough cap room after the cuts. We have plenty of cap room now, at least enough for Vasquez.

      • Trgraham

Ok so they sign one guy tie up the rest of the cap money on one guy so they can’t get anybody else. Wow everyone if you who think its possible are just dreamers

    • tbell11

With all the cuts the chargers had, they had close to $17 million available

  • tiiiiiiiiiiit11

Now we have 1 offensive lineman……..good management chargers!!
I have reason to believe that we will not be contenders for quite some time. Rebuilding era =/

    • http://www.facebook.com/lostkiara Stefanie Smith

They will make sure we go into a rebuild so they can have a built in excuse machine for years to come.

  • Preston Niedert

What in Sam Hill is going on. the chargers lose Vasquez to the broncos of all the teams. What a way to start off agency there better be a plan to fix this mess other wise chargers are in a rebuilding phase and a long one to.

  • http://www.facebook.com/lostkiara Stefanie Smith

Telesco had to know what other teams were willing to pay Vasquez.

  • http://www.facebook.com/lostkiara Stefanie Smith

Now, for the next two days on NFL Network, they will go on how the Chargers let another good player walk out the door… and how Denver and KC are contenders.

    • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

      really great…. really great

  • http://twitter.com/PowderBlue619 Saul Lopez

    This really sucks..

  • http://www.facebook.com/pete.spinning Pete Spinning

Were we in the Levitre or Vasquez sweepstakes? I’m confused. All I saw was an Acee tweet about us being interested in AL, and keeping LV. There might have been some offers I was unaware of. Was Vasquez a pro-bowler, I forget? I thought he was fairly solid, but not spectacular. Anyway, are Green and Rex Hadnot still available? I haven’t seen any buzz on them, but I have been out of the loop. I wonder who will get Cooper or Warmack? Obviously, we are going LT with the first pick, right? That’s what all the mock drafts have been saying.

    • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

There was interest in Levitre.. But that was just interest. We were interested in everyone that was pushing 3 bills. He was always going to cost too much money. Vasquez never went to the Pro Bowl, but was a solid guy. Hadnot and Green are both free agents and still could be brought back for depth. Left tackle is the favorite for the pick, but TT had to pick up at least one tackle just in case one f those tackles didn’t last till pick 11. Now he can choose Chance Warmack if he wants

      • http://www.facebook.com/pete.spinning Pete Spinning

Interest doesn’t sign contracts.. I personally thought it was a smokescreen, so we could get the Titans to bite on Levitre for big money, Then, we could get Cooper, or even your OG favorite, Ernie… Warmack. ; )

You know I am all about keeping Gaither.. not popular…but, I ain’t buying into this “bad locker room” BS. Until TT says he’s cut, he’s our starting LT, IMO. With all of the releases, this locker room ain’t even the same animal. I also thought that the King Dunlap signing was a good thing. Harris is not the answer.. even as a back-up.. Neither is Clary. Dunlap is versatile enough to play both tackle positions. He will probably be a back up, and might not even make the roster. Remember Henderson last year? Very similar signing. King was given decent pass blocking grades, despite his lack of run blocking ability. We are in a pass happy league, with no pass blockers, besides (unfortunately) Gaither. But, his contract might be too big for them to just cut him before camp. I say make the big lazy bastard work for that contract money. Just maybe… we don’t have as big a hole at LT as we think? It’s a gamble… but, even if they draft Johnson.. I think Gaither will probably stay. But, I have been WAY wrong before. Haven’t we all?
