San Diego Chargers Will Not Bring Back Antoine Cason

According to Kevin Acee, the San Diego Chargers will not bring back Antoine Cason in free agency:

I guess we better look for some help somewhere else in the secondary. The only other guys in the secondary that the Chargers have on the roster are Shareece Wright and Marcus Gilchrist. Shareece Wright has struggled with injuries since joining the squad and it looks like he will be trusted to take a good bulk of snaps.

The Chargers better get ready to draft some new corners. Right now, we have tons of holes to fill.

On the positive note, looks like the Chargers will make resigning OG Vasquez their top priority. So drafting a CB and signing one via FA is our plan along with a ILB, WR, RB, and the terrible o-line.

    • Stefanie Smith

I hope so as it should be one of the priorities.

Can’t wait to see what the next few months bring for our team!! 3 starters on D gone, Vasquez probably gone…… Nervous/excited at the same time

  • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

So many changes coming It’s so exciting, so many new starters. I wonder how Telesco can gauge the talent level on Gilchrist & Wright….there’s not much of anything to go off of to see if they can cut it or not.

  • Stefanie Smith

Personally, it gives me an ulcer. Hopefully, they can get Vasquez resigned. Not everyone on our team was bad. They better be able to do better than AJ or Norv and not just drop a bomb on everything and say it was Smith’s fault.

    • ChargerGirl Cindi

      Tell it girl!

    • Jose Martinez

Soon we will know. I wasn’t expecting such a major overhaul all of a sudden. After last year’s big money dump on free agent busts, I’m gun shy.

  • James P Derrick

I sure am gonna miss yelling at the TV for Cason to stop giving the WR such a huge cushion….NOT………………

    • BeanGrud

      You said it!

  • Sergio Quintero

Cason is a bad scheme fit for secondary coach, I remember Denver playing a lot of press man coverage, and as we know Cason struggles with physical play

    • James P Derrick

yup! Over the final years of the Norf AJ regime we all got hoodwinked with their terrible draft selecions/acquisitions….They overhyped CASON when they brought him in…Think of all the players drafted and not lived up to the hype, I can’t even remember the glass receiver’s name anymore(oh yeah Busted Davis)…what about that other kid that had all the prescription drugs on him? Not to add all the RBs drafted to only be let go…Lots of holes to fill. Where’s the plumber? LOL!
Pray Pray Pray that this new regime in Telesco and Co. get this ship sailing right again!!! Go Chargers!!!!

  • Pete Spinning

Wonderful! Personally, I was done with him back when he got torched for 3 TD’s by Plaxico in NY 2 seasons ago. I am so glad we don’t have go another season hearing the term “serviceable” to describe both of our starting CB’s… I hope, anyway. Depends on who they bring in, I guess.

  • JoseSD

Good riddance, I never liked Cason. Can’t believe they passed up Brandon Flowers for him

  • Stefanie Smith

Has the towel guy that ran the gorilla glue caper managed to retain his job?

    • Ernie Padaon

hahahaha… if not, the tampa bay bucs are going to sign him

  • ChargerGirl Cindi

Holy moly. So many guys are being released there must be some big plans in the works. I can’t wait for football!!!

  • Eli Rodriguez

I love the change they are doing but it’s it’s getting scary. Now they have to draft a cb and sign one. The draft should go something like this. 1st round oline 2nd round cb third lb fourth oline or cb 5th rb 6th wr.
