San Diego Chargers Have Released LB Takeo Spikes

The San Diego Chargers have released veteran LB Takeo Spikes, per Kevin Acee. I guess Tom Telesco is awake in his office. I guess he does believe in the Takeo Spikes curse also.

The Spikes release will save the Chargers $3M in cap space, but the Chargers will need to find another starting middle linebacker. Jonas Mouton? At least re-sign Demorrio Williams and let him hold it down for a bit. Would rather get someone else to fill the role, but there is not a lot of wiggle room.

Takeo has been the defensive captain ever since he joined the roster. He is an emotional leader as well. If he wants to make the playoffs some day, it will have to be with another team. Time is running out.

The Washington Redskins could be interested in the middle backer.
