Todd McShay Updated Mock Draft: The San Diego Chargers Select...

Respected draft analyst Todd McShay released his latest mock draft today and here is his selection with the number 11 pick:

11. Lane Johnson, San Diego Chargers (7-9)
COLLEGE: Oklahoma
AGE: 22HT: 6-6
WT: 303

Analysis: The fastest way to becoming a winning team again is to protect QB Philip Rivers.Jared Gaither was a nightmare at left tackle and there’s no telling if he cares enough to put in the time this offseason to turn his play around.

The Chargers can’t afford to gamble. They’ll be fortunate if Johnson lasts this long. He’s still developing but it’s obvious on tape that his arrow is pointing way north. He has made huge strides at offensive tackle — and remember, he was a QB at Kilgore Community College just a few years ago. He also has had stops at TE, DE and right tackle before landing at left tackle in 2012.

He can become a standout left tackle in the NFL if his hands continue to improve and if he keeps getting stronger.

Good ol’ Lane Johnson! Mr. Johnson.

Should I order his jersey already? The Chargers should already give him a jersey number and get his locker ready.

Everyone on the face of the earth has the Chargers drafting Lane Johnson. Message out to St Louis or Chicago or anyone else that needs a left tackle: “The Chargers really want a left tackle, so please don’t try and trade in front of us to select one! Please! PRETTY PLEASE WITH SUGAR ON TOP!”

Just in case you want to know the top 10 picks:

Coradelle Patterson is available. Chance Warmack is available. But we have to settle for need.

The mocks are getting out of control, B.Brooks has E. Fisher as the #1 pick now and Joeckel going #2 to the Jags, Big Lane #4 to the Eagles (Awesome) and Warmack/Cooper also gone. He has us taking Sheriff Floyd, but also has Patterson/Star L/Mingo going after the #11 in which we could choose any of them. I kinda like that. I haven’t watched The Sheriff’s highlight video yet though, gonna do that in a few.

I just read that Ansah is the only guy the Bolts have interviewed more then one time. Ya baby

      • Sergio Quintero

Sign a Guard and a OT in free agency and I would love to bring in Ansah over. He looks like JPP reborn.

      • Preston Niedert

Just because they intrerviewed ansah twice dosnt mean anything.

    • lblocz

unless floyd plays nt their is no point of taking him.

  • lost_hic

I truly think we need to pick up an OL in free agency, Max Starks, Jake long, or someone. That just gives us so many more options, maybe for that reciever, or Lavelle…but all in all, this is OUR SEASON! Cant wait to see #54….#supermelvin..Go Bolts!

    • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

definitely the best option!!! so we can take best player available

      • lost_hic

Also we need to sign Ahmad Bradshaw!! NOW!!

        • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

That would be a cool combo with RM

        • lblocz

too injury prone for my taste. We already have a rb made out of glass don’t need another 1.

  • Rob Base

Still quiet in Charger park. Wonder what free agents Telesco will be back? Tick tock Tick tock….

    • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

This just in…..news for every team but ours! Yipee, not even a whisper lol like a “Chargers interested in Freeney or a ” Bolts considering Reggie Bush too push Matthews”, Good lord give me something Telesco.

  • surge619

Yup bring him over here . Our new coaches can beef him up for the nfl

  • Sergio Quintero

To Rams & Bears I’ll add sprinkles and ice cream to it.

  • Preston Niedert

I thought the chargers didnt want a project because that is what lane Johnson is.
