Blogger NFL Mock Draft: The San Diego Chargers Select…

I participated in a mock draft for draftseason.com last week that had bloggers representing all the teams and making selections.

Here are how the first 10 selections turned out before it got to the San Diego Chargers selection:

1. Kansas City Chiefs: LT Luke Joeckel
2. Jacksonville Jaguars: DE Barkevious Mingo
3. Oakland Raiders: DT Shariff Floyd
4. Philadelphia Eagles: DE Dion Jordan
5. Detroit Lions: OT Eric Fisher
6. Cleveland Browns: CB Dee Milliner
7. Arizona Cardinals: QB Geno Smith
8. Buffalo Bills: WR Cordarrelle Patterson
9.New York Jets: DE Bjoern Werner
10: Tennessee Titans: OG Chance Warmack

Lane Johnson is there and it is an easy selection…… BUT for some dang reason I am not on the Lane Johnson hype train yet. I don’t know what it is! Instead of Lane Johnson, I selected OG Jonathan Cooper from North Carolina.

I think the Chargers will pick up a tackle in free agency and will keep their options open come draft time.

What would you have done with that selection?

I would like Ansah at the #11 but Cooper would be great. I’m not also sold on Johnson, guys that no one talked about at all then suddenly appear and move up like he did scare me a bit.

    • Preston Niedert

Keep in mind Johnson might be off the board as well. some team will trade up and pick Johnson then what? That’s why the chargers should sign a LT in free agency and be done with it. then draft OG johnathan cooper or chance warmack.

      • Nate Lew

Albert was franchise tagged by KC and most of the worthy replacements are going to cost close to or north of 10 million a year. This team needs to find a franchise LT it won’t have to pay that type of money for a few years.

        • Nick in PB

Nate, that’s a good point. With Albert getting the tag, the rest of the FA OT’s are going to get a bit more expensive. Maybe even not worth the price they are asking. Lane Johnson is a little scary at 11. Not sure if he’s ready right now? I love Ernies suggestion of getting a FA LT and then getting one of those can’t miss guards, Cooper or Warmack. But the FA LT spot is not filled with great talent for the price. Tough call… let’s see what our guys do.

  • Joel Garcia

Luke Joeckel is not going to be first pick over all. KC might go defense and pick a corner or the best wide receiver to give Alex smith more weapons.

  • Raymundo

We won’t get Lane Johnson anyways. He’ll go early and all the Free agent LTs are out of our price range. Cooper will be a nice pick if he’s available.
