The Meltdown: Kansas City Fans React to Alex Smith Trade

Just jumped over to our good FanSided friend’s site, Arrowhead Addict, to see how the good people of Kansas City are reacting to their great addition of Alex Smith. I knew the lovely people of KC would not disappoint. Check out some of these reactions:

At the top of the comments section was pure hatred:

Cassel 2.0 I hope we lose every game and these morons get ran out of town like the last Morons – kcpauly

Why does this team even have fans anymore – Chiefswatch

…and then came the fan that has common sense, but poor spelling:

I think everyone actually likes smith. However what we paid was to much. I do think we can win a SB with him though but we will see. HOWEVER PEOPLE… Lets welcome him in with open arms. No need to cry about spilled milk guys. I dont know what to say honestly. I do feel HONESTLY that our team is better then SF on offense with smith and we have a good young def. Maybe we can still land Tyler Bray in Round 3, he is truly a future star with a huge arm. Lets all take a deep breath and just remeber watching alex smith out dual Drew brees in the playoffs, if we get that guy on a consistant basis we should be very very happy. I just hope this doesnt mean we will also let albert walk and draft a tackel. I think Milliner just became our clear choice. – Richard Comstock

I will not take your common sense!

Sorry but I can’t just be like hey you made a huge mistake again but no worries I will happily be unrealisticly optimistic about the careers of Charles Bowe, Hali, Johnson – Justin R Groth

These Chiefs fans are right. It was a stupid move. I would be pissed!

Ground hog day, the life of a chiefs fan! Same thing over and over and over and over! When will we actually do something that makes sense? We waste the first over all pick just to swap LT and not pay Albert his due and then throw our second away for a guy who was benched – Chris Tarrants

Hopefully the San Diego Chargers new management doesn’t make the mistakes the predecessors had made. I have heard the “definition of insanity” too often around these beaches. Hopefully the fresh faces and that fresh air will bring a fresh thought process and some fresh winning. FRESH!

By the title of this article “The Meltdown” I thought they were going to be talking about the Philip Rivers legacy….. I do not believe that Alex Smith will fix all the KC problems but I think it is smarter than wasting a 1st overall pick on a Ryan Leaf (I mean Geno Smith) type of unproven talent….

I have been a fan of the Chiefs since they moved to KC in the mid 1960′s but their reluctance to spend 1st round draft picks on the most important position on the field is really wearing on me. CLARK, tell your managemet to Quit taking other teams hand-me-downs and take a few chances on the QB position early in the draft. DO NOT listen to smart guys like Jeff here who believe that there is such an animal as a proven college football player. The Chiefs have 1st round draft picks playing DT, 2xDE, 2xLB, Safety, OT, and 2xWR. Most of those were “proven” talent and what did that get us…. 2-14. As the Great Todd would say……street.%$#^&*^…. . There is always risk BUT a hall of fame player at any other position will not carry a team thru the playoffs like a QB thats a difference maker!!!!

First, nice job spelling “lovely”. Second, Everyone hates Alex Smith because he is a “slight upgrade over Matt Cassel”. The moronic throngs in Kansas City (I say that as I live in KC and have all my life) assume that since we have Alex Smith we will never draft another quarterback again. This kind of thinking pervades the populace here (remember Romeo Crennel beating Green Bay and then getting the coaching job?) and it’s a sad state of affairs. Just know that while there are a lot of idjits here (just like there are everywhere) most of us know Alex Smith does not mean we will not pick up another QB. I am hoping we trade back a bit and pick up Geno Smith still. I am also hoping mental retardation has not infested Arrowhead Stadium and we find a way to keep both Dwayne Bowe AND Branden Albert.

But really in the end I would be happy if Kansas City or the Raiders won the division next year, since I dislike the Broncos for random reasons and in KC we think the Chargers think they are better than everyone else and so hate them as the lowly hobo hates the rich guy flipping him off from his Porsche before getting T-Boned by a bus and dying in his mangled car cold and alone with no one to love him.

Anyway good luck in the upcoming season!

      and that is some hate.

It’s a fine line between hate and jealousy, I try to walk it diligently :)
And it’s only after your good nature ribbing of Kansas City fans, I wouldn’t have brought it up but you called to attention someone else’s spelling and though I hate being pedantic I found that to be pretty funny.

on the bright side, if smith does absolutely nothing in kc at least they will have a top 5 pick again lol so sad
