The 2013 NFL Combine is this weekend.  It’s time to sift through the 333 kids that were invited.  The Combine is Saturday through Tuesday and there are needs the Chargers are going to fill performing on each of these days.  I do not just watch for the pure athleticism, this is pro-football shopping at it’s finest.

While all Chargers fans can agree that there are many areas that need improvement the offensive line has to be our first priority.  Starting with offensive tackle. Odd are, 6′ 6′ Luke Joeckel from Texas A&M will already be gone when we pick 11th, unless there is some sort of fancy trading going on.  This kid sounds good on paper, but I have concerns that he has only played in the two point stance and could get caught playing upright.  Second options,  Eric Fisher or Lane Johnson may still be on the block.  There are only a few teams with the O-line woes of the Chargers, so the odds are good.  Fisher is a 6′ 8′ beast, but needs to work on his speed.  Johnson is a 6′ 7″ athlete who appears to be the real deal.  His only weakness is lack of experience as he has only played in this position a few years.  I actually find this a plus.  He played QB which gives him a unique understanding of time needed.

I would be shocked if at least one of these guys was not taken in our first round.  I would love all three to be honest.  We need fresh new talent and they have got it!

I’m with you. Any one of these guys would be awesome, though I think Fisher and Johnson are the only real possibilities.

We should trade down and then draft Johnson, we are actually set at guard believe it or not if we resign Vasquez because troutman was suppose to be a 1st or 2nd round pick before he got injured and we drafted him, he has never allowed a sack in his college career.

I can’t wait to see what kind of moves we see on our dream teams first draft! Giddieup.
