The new Kansas City Chiefs GM is showing his cards for the first round and probably the 2nd round also. KC General Manager John Dorsey told the Kansas City Star, “There is no quarterback where personnel guys can definitely say, ‘He’s a first-round pick.’ There were so many inconsistencies in the collective group. There was not one guy that stood up and said, ‘I’m the guy in the position this year.’ There really wasn’t one clear-cut guy.”
So, in the first round, Kansas City doesn’t think that their is a quarterback that is worthy of the first pick. Geno Smith will have to wait for a bit before he gets selected. I would assume that they select Luke Joeckel with the first selection now and the trickle down effect with the left tackle position will follow after that selection.
Wonder why Dorsey had to mention that there were no first round quarterbacks this draft? Shouldn’t he only speak for the first pick of the draft?
Dorsey is probably trying to convince the rest of his peers that there is no quarterback worth picking in the first round, because he wants to dip into the QB pool in round 2 and he is hoping for the best possible group to be available when he gets to select. Hopefully all the QB hungry teams find a way to move up in the draft and select their guys before the Chiefs get their turn.
