The Kansas City Chiefs GM Is Not Sure Their Is A 1st Round QB This Year

The new Kansas City Chiefs GM is showing his cards for the first round and probably the 2nd round also. KC General Manager John Dorsey told the Kansas City Star, “There is no quarterback where personnel guys can definitely say, ‘He’s a first-round pick.’ There were so many inconsistencies in the collective group. There was not one guy that stood up and said, ‘I’m the guy in the position this year.’ There really wasn’t one clear-cut guy.”

So, in the first round, Kansas City doesn’t think that their is a quarterback that is worthy of the first pick. Geno Smith will have to wait for a bit before he gets selected. I would assume that they select Luke Joeckel with the first selection now and the trickle down effect with the left tackle position will follow after that selection.

Wonder why Dorsey had to mention that there were no first round quarterbacks this draft? Shouldn’t he only speak for the first pick of the draft?

Dorsey is probably trying to convince the rest of his peers that there is no quarterback worth picking in the first round, because he wants to dip into the QB pool in round 2 and he is hoping for the best possible group to be available when he gets to select. Hopefully all the QB hungry teams find a way to move up in the draft and select their guys before the Chiefs get their turn.

Check out this Mock Draft and who they have going to the Chargers: http://www.drafttek.com/2013-NFL-Mock-Draft-Round1.asp
This would be a dream for us. We got lucky with Ingram last year… maybe we’ll get lucky again.

Finally, someone with actually credibility says what most of us already knew. The people wanting Geno Smith to be the number one pick must be sad today, and, if they think throwing at the combine and 15 minute interviews will replace four years of performance, they’re nuts.

Also, what is the obsession with Luke Joeckel? That makes no sense to me. The Chiefs have an “above average” LT who they can sign or tag. That seems like a wasted top pick. Take the beast DT out of Utah and dump Jackson and/or Dorsey, who are not as good as Ablert at their position.

Russel Wilson. Proves it’s not where you take a QB, rather taking the right one and what you do with him, when he’s on your team.
