Mike Mayock Says Alabama OG Chance Warmack Is Best Prospect In the 2013 NFL Draft

Mike Mayock has rated Alabama OG Chance Warmack as the best player available in the draft. Not best lineman. Not best guard. BEST PLAYER!

If Warmack is available with the 11th pick in the draft for the San Diego chargers, it will be very tough to pass on the kid. The only way I pass on the kid is if a left tackle falls to us at the 11 spot, but that is the only reason we should pass on Warmack.

We have a need at left guard just as much as we have a need for a left tackle. If we can get “the best player in the draft” with the 11th pick in an area of need, then how can we pass?

I hope this kid is available with the 11th pick in the draft. I hope he lasts that long.

i respect mayock’s opinion big time and would love to nab this kid at 11. : )

I agree that if Fisher and Joeckel are gone we should take Warmack I still need to see more of Lane Johnson to see if he’s worth the 11th pick. Mike Mayock is the only “expert” who’s opinions I give any merit to. Kiper and McShay don’t know shit and they’re so annoying. McShay looks like he wants to cry every time he and Kiper argue over a player

The only drawback here is that Warmack is a Power Blocking scheme Guard. It wouldn’t help our OLine problem and would be contradictory to the supposedly new scheme of Zone Blocking…

Yea your right, and if Lane Johnson kills it at the combine and pro day then of course he’ll be the pick at 11. Johnson is running a 4.67 40

Does a LT’s 40 time really say alot? not like he can bolt down the field and catch a pass.

i still think that he can work with zone blocking… dude is athletic and is a stud, regardless of scheme

I would take this guy at 11 if the tackles were gone. With the switch to the zone blocking scheme, he may still be a good pick. He is athletic. We could get him to drop a few pounds. However, if Johnson is still on the board too, with his athleticism, he might be a great fit to a zone blocking situation. That is, if he’s ready!

  • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

I agree with that as well, if Fisher is taken then we should go Warmack. I don’t know about Johnson he’s like the wold card LT in this draft. We can’t risk signing a guy at 11 and he can’t start right away. I really hope we get Warmack.

Warmack vs. Johnson seems like the key draft argument, I think free agency might settle this argument. Say the chargers sign Levitre and resign Vazquez then this argument is moot. Until the chargers have a OLT either through free agency or draft I will still argue the 11 pick will be a OLT. Maybe the best hope for Warmack is signing Bushrod or Albert and then taking Warmack.

NFL times this crap out so well… wished that free agency started sooner, but then, we would have nothing to look forward to in March. I hate them for being scheduling geniuses!
