The Buffalo Bills have cut ties with Southern California boy Nick Barnett. Barnett has led the Bills in tackles the last couple of seeasons and could be a good veteran pickup for Mr. T (GM Tom Telesco).
Middle linebacker Takeo Spikes has lost a step and is a possibility to be released. The San Diego Chargers would need to find a replacement for Spikes in the middle.
Barnett played outside linebacker for the Bills, but he is capable of playing in the middle. When the Green Bay Packers moved to a 3-4 defense, Barnett started as an inside linebakher. He did really well, but was troubled by the injury bug.
Barnett is 31 years old, but could come at a good price. He could be a good stop gap in the middle of the defense for a couple of seasons. It wouldn’t be a bad pickup. PLUS, I am convinced that Takeo Spikes has some sort of curse.
Alright Beaters, should the Chargers have interest in Nick Barnett?
