Super Bowl 2013: Was it a Hold? Or Good Non-Call?

Feb 3, 2013; New Orleans, LA, USA; San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Michael Crabtree (15) is unable to catch a pass in the end zone while defended by Baltimore Ravens free safety Ed Reed (20) on a fourth down play in the fourth quarter in Super Bowl XLVII at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. Was it a good noncall or should there have been a penalty flag on that play? The game came down to the last possession and there will be some controversy on this play. What was your take on this play?

I think it was a hold and they got away with it.

definitely a hold you can see the 2h hold on the goaline angle better.

If after the initial contact you are hanging off the guy five yards later, it’s a hold.

It’s amazing but most of the media is trying to do crowd control and support that bad officiating, which was constant all game.

    Without a doubt… HOLD!

  • Jedi

The Refs, NFL and, Jimmy Smith. OWE Crabtree and the 49ers a huge apology for that blatant hold.

What about the helmet to helmet on the 3rd down and the holding by 3 Ravens players on that return that resulted in a TD on the opening kick off of the second half? This may sound crazy but I starting to think this stuff is rigged. Additionally there where late hits all game.

Brutal hold. That was the worst performance by a crew of referees I have ever seen and I am not a fan of either team. Williams shoves the ref and doesn’t even get a flag let alone ejected. Roughing the kicker call should have been half the distance and automatic first down. At least 3-4 offsides where the Ravens jumped the snap. The most ridiculous non-calls were on the safety where no less than 3 Ravens had their man completely wrapped up while the kicker ran around for 10 seconds. Those referees should be ASHAMED of themselves……

    Hold.

Ravens got away with one, an the trophy. However, there was a lot of grabbin’ throughout the game. wish the refs could keep the flags in there pockets for the regular season.

If the Refs weren’t going to call anything why have them on the field, then we would at lest know what kind of game this was going to be. Ravens realized the Refs weren’t going to call anything, 9ers didn’t. Still lots of penalties missed on both teams.

i agree. i’t like showing up for work, and deciding you’re not going to do your job.
