Alex Smith Could Join An AFC West Team This Offseason

Colin Kaepernick stole the show for the San Francisco 49ers. He might even win them a Super Bowl. The forgotten man is QB Alex Smith.

Smith lost his starting job and will likely look for a new starting gig somewhere else in the offseason. One of the rumored teams to be interested in Smith’s services is the Kansas City Chiefs, per Ian Rapoport. Smith isn’t a name that really gets opposing teams shaking in their boots, but he is a huge upgrade to Matt Cassel. I wish Matt Cassel could quarterback that team for 10 more seasons.

The Chiefs have a solid supporting cast. They had 6 Pro Bowlers and they hold the top pick in the draft. They already have solid receivers and a Pro Bowl running back, if they can get a solid quarterback, they will be a team that can compete.

Does Alex Smith to KC scare anyone?

Who are the solid receivers? Bowe is most likely leaving and no one else has shown anything.

How is Alex Smith an “upgrade” from matt cassel? Alex Smith has benefited from the “system”, staff and players around him, in san francisco. like cassel benefitted in new england. i don’t know for the life of me, why organizations, continue to believe the grass is greener in your neighbors yard. Alex smith would best be served by, admitting he’s not that good, take a pay cut, and be happy to be the back-up QB of a winning organization. think Charlie Batch…. ;)

But have you seen Matt Cassel?

      • arnie

yup. and i’ve seen him before he got the kc. Alex has the same problem, looks good with a good team. just like cassel did.

Have Alex smith sign here as backup QB nice options butter then half the QB to hit free angecy ad we need one and if Charlie whitehurst counts as a back up QB wrong it might not be the most glamoures signining but it would previde the chargers with plan B it rivers goes down or does the hole Payton manning ordeal come to mind it should but as always the chargers will ignore the problem till its smack dab in there face then they will do some about it if you think drafting a QB In the draft is better then are would you put him in if rivers struggles or is benched or get hurt for longer then mounth think about it ppl.

Im interested in why you think we might let Bowe walk? I just can’t see it, we have money, with a large investment in a QB why would we let our best wideout leave? That’s kind of missing the entire point of picking up a QB. I’m not harping on you or anything, but some of these rumors going around seem a little silly to me. The Kansas City Chiefs need Dwayne Bowe. I am guessing they finally pay the man.
