Chargers Scouts Chat With Arkansas QB Tyler Wilson

The San Diego Chargers scouts are spending their fair share of time evaluating the quarterbacks at the Senior Bowl. They recently had chatted up with Landry Jones and now they have talked with Arkansas QB Tyler Wilson, per Walter Football.

Wilson is dazzling scouts at the Senior Bowl during practices. Interesting that the Chargers scouts would spend some time with a quarterback that will possibly be taken in the first round. Wilson’s stock fell a little during the season, but his arrow is starting to point up during this Senior Bowl.

Still don’t think that there is too much to think of this, but it wouldn’t surprise me to see the Chargers use a late draft pick this year to select a quarterback to develop under Philip Rivers. If Philip does slip up again for a third season in a row, then it might be time to look for someone else to take the ball under center.

I wonder if Tom Telesco and Mike McCoy would rather have a quarterback that can move around a little?

Either way, Philip still has plenty of years under him. I still believe that of they fix the offensive line and get him a solid running game, then Philip will look like that Pro Bowl quarterback all over again.

As an Arkansas fan and someone who has watched every game Tyler has played in as a starter, I’d trust him to back up Rivers much more than I trust Clipboard Jesus. Good pocket presence, mobility, and the ability to make tight throws.

Granted, he had a bit of a down year this year, but with John L. Smith at the helm, that was pretty inevitable. I wouldn’t hate it if we were able to grab him in the second or third round, after grabbing an OT or CB.

Yeah, i don’t think he’d make it to the 4th. I also don’t think we’d grab him in the second or third unless we traded back and grabbed some extra picks. Too many other things to worry about than a backup QB.

Not to mention, the way Jerry Jones loves Razorbacks, he may not make it past the Cowboys first round pick.
