The East-West Shrine Game is about to start and there are some future NFL stars will be part of that game. Even though the Chargers were making all kinds of moves in the front office, they had scouts at the game scoping out the talent. Here is the list of players that the Chargers interviewed during the practices this week (Walter Football):

Virginia Tech wide receiver Corey Fuller
Connecticut linebacker Sio Moore
Clemson cornerback Xavier Brewer
James Madison offensive guard/center Earl Watford
Florida State wide receiver Rodney Smith
Middle Tennessee State wide receiver Anthony Amos
Utah State running back Kerwynn Williams
Ohio State linebacker Nathan Williams
Virginia Tech wide receiver Marcus Davis

Keep an extra eye on some of those guys listed above.

I just read that supposedly the Chargers dont have enough salary cap to sign a big name free agent player (i.e. OT) without restructuring a feww contracts….. hmmm

I looked up Chargers’ salary cap. They are under the cap by about $18.5 mill with everyone kept on. So no, they are not at their cap. However, I am not sure I understood the substance of the contracts, because the way I saw it is that AJ gave a lot of these guys guaranteed money, i.e Gaither. So if we release Gaither, we would still take a hit for the guaranteed money on his multi-year contract, I believe. If they can trade a few, or get out from under some of the bad deals AJ made, it should be okay.

However, somebody like Clady is expected to require a whole lot of money.

The Chargers should concentrate on the OLine and get an under study for Rivers, his better days are behind him. To all you new Coaches; don’t let the curse of A. J. drag you down.
