Denver Broncos Lose. Mike McCoy Can Interview For Chargers Job Now

What an epic battle between the Denver Broncos and the Baltimore Ravens, but with the Broncos loss today, their offensive coordinator Mike McCoy can interview for the San Diego Chargers head coaching vacancy. McCoy is one of the rumored candidates for the job.

He has directed the Broncos offense the last couple of years and they have adapted to the different quarterback styles they have had. Last season they had to switch things around in order to adapt with Tim Tebow. This season, they were able to work with Peyton Manning and his style offense. His ability to adapt is what makes him a hot commodity.

McCoy joined the Broncos in 2009 and he helped Kyle Orton look like an awesome quarterback. The Broncos ranked 7th in the league in passing offense with Orton running the show. KYLE ORTON!!

If McCoy is running the show, he could keep John Pagano around to run the defense. At least the young defense could have some consistency.

Let’s see if Tom Telesco gives him a buzz for an interview.

Pass….all I see he could contribute is the inside scoop on Donkey Offense…Really liking the O Coordinator from San Fran….look at how bad he’s picked apart the cheesehead D….

I agree, I would love him as the Chargers new HC

They would have to wait quite a while for him, I expect them to beat ATL, then its another 2 week wait. Will have to compete with the Jags for him, I heard their new GM is very close to Roman.

        won’t wait long now….

so happy to see Manning lose.

He’s good candidate, but i saw some conservative play -calling with 1:35 left in the regulation. three run plays, not get the first down and kneel down, with 2 time outs?
“Hello! You play to win the games!”

    • arnie

But what i really wanted to say is. that was quick. now let’s see if the broncos will give permission.

      • Sergio Quintero

Can’t deny permission for promotions in the NFL, only for lateral moves

        • arnie

          Yes they can…

          “…Promotions

The NFL does not differentiate between levels of assistant coaches in its rules regarding their availability to interview with other teams. Whether the coach is a defensive line coach or an offensive coordinator, the rules are the same. If a team wishes to interview an assistant coach who is still under contract with another team for its head coaching position, the current team is required to give permission for the interview as long as it happens between the end of the team’s season and March 1. After March 1, teams can still ask, but the current team is not obligated to give permission.

          that’s were i got mixed.

Most every coach in the league is that conservative, don’t agree with it but its standard practice under that circumstance. Don’t love any candidate but I would be okay with McCoy, Roman or Tom Clements (OC Packers).

I dont know but to me it seems like they are not interested in McCoy….i wouldnt mind him or Greg Roman though…….Really want Zimmer but seems like only a rumor
