Carolina Panthers Want to Speak to Hue Jackson for OC Job

The Carolina Panthers have asked for permission to speak with Cincinnati Bengals defensive backs coach Hue Jackson for their offensive coordinator vacancy, per Albert Breer. The New York Jets also could be interested in Jackson

Jackson has been linked to a couple of head coaching candidates that the Chargers will be talking to. He is one of the brightest offensive minds that is available for a possible OC.

In Jackson’s tenure in Oakland, he was able to make Jason Campbell look good. He also made that offense a machine running the football. In 2012 when Jackson was the OC in Oakland, the Raiders finished sixth in the NFL in scoring and finished 10th in the NFL in yards per game. The Raiders had a 6-0 record against the AFC West that season.

He became the head coach in the 2011 season and was able to lead them to an 8-8 record. He was ridiculed for his roster decisions and was fired when a new GM was brought to town.

If he is available when the Chargers finally select the head coach, he would be an awesome offensive coordinator to bring in. We have to find our head coach first though.

I think that would be a interesting street fight: Rivera vs Jackson. I think the dude is motivating at the very least. he may act like a power hungry dictator if left unchecked, but he did better than allen with that goon squad.

Why not Hue for HC? Seriously, He took over Oakland and in his first season as HC had them playing pretty damn well! Sure hes been scrutinized for giving away the farm for Palmer. So you don’t give him any say so over personal! I personally think he could be a great hire!

and that is another possibility. honestly, i don’t think he got a fair chance with the Raiders as their head coach. he made that team look decent and after he was fired, they fell back to the bottom. i think he could do wonders with Ryan Mathews and Philip Rivers.

It would be great to have him come in a shove it down the Raiders throat twice a year… hehehehe

I live in No Cal and listened to Hue Jackson on sports radio every week. Outside of the over reach for Carson Palmer, he had a good rapport with the team.

Seriously, someone brought up his name the other day… as a HC, he would be someone to consider. He made mistakes with the Raiders but it wasn’t about coaching. He seemed to have them going in the right direction! Chargers should consider him.

Please Guys, have you ever heard the guy speak? I’ve watched many of his press conferences while scouting the Raiders, No Thanks! Bright and Hue Jack City should not be used in the same sentence. Plus, Greg Roman is already the Bolts new HC, their just waiting for the 49ers to lose!

Him and Telesco have a TON of history together and he’s considered one of the Brightest young minds in the game, who demands excellence…He’s also considered an Offensive Line/RB guru, just what we need. The “Telescope” will make it happen!!!

    • Ernie Padaon

maybe he is not the sharpest knife in the place where they place knives, but his track record shows he can run an offense. dont you think?

and Roman would be great. I think the Jags want to talk to him also. He has a track record with their new GM also.
