The New York Jets have decided to look in another direction for their General Manager position and will not be hiring San Francisco 49ers Director of Personnel Tom Gamble. The Chargers are scheduled to interview with Gamble on Tuesday, per Adam Schefter.

Tom Telesco and Jimmy Raye are the favorites for the Chargers GM vacancy. Marc Ross and Tom Gamble are both still in the picture and the Chargers are expected to make their decision in the next couple of days.

I would guess they make their decision before Wednesday and then they can start lining up head coaching interviews. I am sure that a lot of the candidates that they want to interview are from playoff teams and have yet to interview with other clubs.

How good is Gamble really? This year’s 49ers draft class had zero impact only LaMichael James saw the field and it wasn’t that often. This team is mostly the same roster that lost a lot of games under Mike Singletary. I think the only big additions from Singletary’s to Harbaugh’s team were Carlos Rogers and Donte Whitner. And drafting Aldon Smith. I think coaching has more to do with the 49ers recent success because they always had those good players Willis,Justin Smith, Gholdson, Davis , Gore, Staley and Anthony Davis & Iupati were rookie starters with Singletary it wasn’t until Harbaugh was brought it that the team played up to it’s potential. and although Gamble was there when these players were brought in but I think finding the right coach is more important than the GM

finding the right coach is definitely bigger than getting the right GM. The coach is able to mold and develop these youngsters. dont think Norv was ever able to do that
