Takeo Spikes Fined For “Fighting”

December 30, 2012; San Diego, CA, USA; San Diego Chargers inside linebacker Takeo Spikes (51) throws his helmet as he is escorted off the field by tight end Randy McMichael (81) after Spikes was ejected during the second quarter against the Oakland Raiders at Qualcomm Stadium. In what could be Takeo Spikes last game of his career, he was thrown out and now has been fined by the league for fighting. It was already a stupid call to throw him out of the game, but now the league decided to fine him for those actions. What actions? He was playing football! There have been worse on the field, probably worse actions in that game!

If Takeo is back with us next season, I hope he puts up more of a fight than that! If he is going to get fined, then he might as well have hit the official with his helmet when he flung it. He shouldn’t get fined for simply playing football.

I like Takeo and he’s good for the team but only as a backup.
