Chargers Interviewing Giants Marc Ross and Cardinals Steve Keim Today. Field Narrowing

The San Diego Chargers are interviewing a pair of candidates for the GM position today. They will interview with New York Giants Director of College Scouting Marc Ross (Adam Schefter) and Arizona Cardinals Director of Player Personnel Steve Keim (Kevin Acee) today.

The field seems to be narrowing down for the GM search. San Francisco 49ers Tom Gamble looks to be headed to New York with the Jets, Atlanta Falcons Dave Caldwell seems that he is leaning toward Jacksonville. That leaves Jimmy Raye, Tom Telesco, Steve Keim and Marc Ross as the remaining possibilities. Kevin Acee mentioned that the search is even more narrow with just Raye and Telesco as the main possibilities.

If Telesco is hired, then it would hard to imagine the coaching search taking long. It makes too much sense for Telesco to bring in Bruce Arians with him from Indy. Another possibility is Greg Roman from the 49ers since Telesco and Roman attended John Carroll University together.

I don’t know which GM would want to bring in Jim Mora, but I would assume that it is Jimmy Raye with Dean Spanos pulling the strings with that choice.

Can we sign our guy already?

The only way this team gets back to dominance, if we ever were there to begin with, is the hiring of Ross as GM and Mike Zimmer (Bengals D coordinator) as HC.. Anything less then that combo will fail…

I agree 100 percent but the chargers and their wolf will hire a 60 1 hit wonder and the chargers will regress further

I would love it if they hired Ross. Zimmer keeps getting passed up. Wonder what the reason is?

San Diego Chargers GM Marc Ross, I like the sound of that!

I think they are really wasting these candidates time. Spanos family is partial to Jimmy Raye. They are going through the motions. Hopefully, this consultant has some influence and convincing them to be objective and truly open to other candidates.

Me too, Steph! I read that he is MORE than capable of being the Giants GM, but there are already too many qualified chefs in the kitchen.

Also everyone is saying it is taking so long. Chargers canned AJ and Norv less than a week ago. No, finding a good GM and coach is not taking so long. It will be one week tomorrow.

As much as I’d like to see Jimmy Raye get his shot, I’d be worried about if he will get to be the full control or will he just be Dean’s puppet. We need to change the culture of the Chargers and bringing in someone who is used to building a winner is the best way to do that.

I agree with your comments. Gotta be honest… Hiring ANYBODY from within the team doesn’t appeal to me, at all. We need real change. We won’t get that kind of leadership from the Chargers front office. You’ll get more of the same.

here’s a thought. how many championships and probowl players has marc ross scouted for the giants?
if you can see the answers to that question, then we should know that mac ross knows what a “championship” organization looks like.
    championship. not just winning.

That right there is why he gets my vote. Some people know what it takes to be a champion
