The Kansas City Chiefs have been hot on the pursuit of head coach Andy Reid and was supposedly really close to closing out a deal with him yesterday, but for some reason those talks stalled in the afternoon. Then this morning, the Chiefs have fired former General Manager Scott Pioli.

Maybe Reid and Pioli didn’t agree on some things and the Chiefs had to clear the way. Reid looks like he will have a big hand in the personnel decisions in Kansas City like he did when he built the “Dream Team” in Philadelphia.

Here is a statement from the Chiefs on Pioli:

“After several productive conversations, we made the difficult decision to part ways with Scott Pioli and allow him to pursue other opportunities,” Chiefs Chairman and CEO Clark Hunt said. “Scott has been an invaluable member of the Chiefs family since joining us in 2009, and we sincerely appreciate his tremendous contributions over the last four years.

Looks like the deal with Andy Reid is just around the corner now.
