Names for possible head coaching candidates are starting to surface and we haven’t even figured out who our General Manager is yet. The San Diego Chargers are interested in speaking with former Chicago Bears Head Coach Lovie Smith according to Adam Schefter.
Lovie has a 81-63 record with the Bears and led that team to the Super Bowl. He has never been able to fix the offensive struggles with the Bears, but he has hired some good men to try and find the solution. If Lovie comes to San Diego as the head coach, he would need to bring over someone very talented to help run the offense. Norv Turner? Just joking! Maybe Whisenhunt if he is unable to land a head coaching gig.
Lovie doesn’t run the 3-4 scheme in Chicago and the team would have to make that adjustment if he decided to switch that up. He has had success with Brian Urlacher in the middle of the defense for a long time.
He would be a big name and has the experience of winning. He just finished a 10 win season and was fired after that. He didn’t make the playoffs, but he was in a tough division. Things will be a little easier around here, but he would have Manning to deal with instead of Rodgers.
