The San Diego Chargers asked for permission to interview with New York Giants Marc Ross for the open GM position. To get more info on him, I got in touch with Joe Tufaro of G-Men HQ. Here is what he had to say:
Marc Ross is a young and talented executive in the Giants organization under the direction of Jerry Reese. He was very sought after last year as well, but chose to stay with the team. He has lots of choices, and therefore will take what is best for him and his family. He has been rumored to be going to teams like The Jets and Carolina, but those are bad fits and he knows it. The only caution I would have about San Diego being a good fit is the fact that Eli chose not to go there, and whatever that story was might be passed along.
Marc is responsible, along with others for players like Victor Cruz, Stevie Brown, JPP, and Terrell Thomas. While with the Eagles he helped find Brian Westbrook, Lito Sheppard and Derrick Burgess.
Someone will be lucky to get this young man….and they should keep him forever.
Victor Cruz, JPP, Brian Westbrook. Excellent!
I tend to think that Eli didn’t want to come this way because he is a jerk, but I am sure others have their own opinions on that. He probably didn’t want to deal with AJ either. AJ’s glowing personality wasn’t something players and agents took on very kindly. Clean slate now and moving forward.
I wonder who he would want as the head coach? Perry Fewell? He is the Giants defensive coordinator and has been a hot candidate for a bit. Kevin Gilbride? Just threw up! Ha!
