Not speculation, not rumor, fact. Today the news we have been waiting to hear out of Chargers park for years has been released. Norv Turner is officially no longer the head coach of the San Diego Chargers. This is on the heels of the third straight season the Chargers have not made the playoffs.

The end of Turner’s time here is a sort of full-circle conclusion, as many vocal fans have wanted him fired since the day he was hired in January 2007.

The Chargers owe Turner $3 million for the final year of his contract.

Turner’s regular-season record as a head coach is 114-122-1. Overall, he is 4-4 in the playoffs. In six seasons in San Diego, he is 55-41. This is the first season that the Bolts fell below 500 since 2003.

Glad the Spanos family is finally looking out for the team. Let’s hope the permanent replacements are leaders.
