Ken Whisenhunt Fired As Cardinals Head Coach. Interested in Chargers Job

Ken Whisenhunt is available now also. Whisenhunt was let go by the Arizona Cardinals today, along with GM Rod Graves. Whisenhunt directed the Cardinals to the Super Bowl a few years ago, but lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers. He won a Super Bowl as the offensive coordinator for the Steelers prior to becoming the Cards head coach.

Kevin Acee has reported that Whisenhunt would be interested in the Chargers job.

Whisenhunt has struggled with the Cardinals of late, but they have not had a good quarterback since Kurt Warner retired. Having a quarterback like Philip Rivers has to be intriguing for Whisenhunt.

Put him down as one of the possible candidates for the job. Bruce Arians is the other name that we have been hearing.

The perception is better with Arians. He comes out into the “pool” after holding together a team and coaching up a rookie QB and getting them into the playoffs, which no one expected. He also has experience with QBs. He would be good for Rivers. Canning Arians probably was the dumbest thing that Pittsburgh ever did. Now look who they have and how they ended up. Whisenhunt was just fired for not being able to get the QBs going. Somebody has to fix Rivers or know what he is doing enough to know if Rivers still has it. Whisenhunt did not fix Kolb plus traded/paid to much to get him. But maybe that was the GM’s fault on the Kolb deal.

I can see that, but Whisenhunt was dealt a bad hand. Kolb, Skelton are much worse quarterbacks than Andrew Luck. He did bring Kurt Warner back to life and led that team to a Super Bowl.

      • Stefanie Smith

Good point there. Yeah. He did have enough sense to get Warner on board. okay. I could live with that.

        • Ernie Padaon

Even better if he was the coordinator to Bill Cowher? Ha! That would be simply amazing

I wouldn’t be opposed to him coming in as the OC with Bruce Arians as HC,. I think they have a good shot at keeping Pagano as the DC if Arians gets the job. Now if only we could find a way to keep Joiner, Bisaccia, a good O line coach and a decent strength and conditioning team

if Whisenhunt is a candidate for OC, put him down.

      Big yes!
