Is Jim Mora A Chargers Head Coaching Candidate?

Any coach that comes around San Diego might get asked about a possible position opening up with the San Diego Chargers. The latest coach to be asked about the position is UCLA Head Coach Jim Mora. Mora is in town because he has led his Bruins to the Holiday Bowl.

Mora owns a house in San Diego, was married in Point Loma and started his NFL career with the San Diego Chargers. He was pretty much the team errand boy. He was designated with the title “quality control coach” under Don Coryell.

Mora has had his chance in the NFL as the main guy with the Atlanta Falcons and the Seattle Seahawks. Both times he was fired after leading his team to losing seasons. He has only had one winning season in his NFL career.

He was asked about the possible opening in San Diego and responded with, “I’m not going to talk about the Chargers. The Chargers have a head coach who’s a very good friend of mine. I’m not going to disrespect him by by saying anything about that job.”

Doesn’t that sound like “don’t ask me that question until Norv is gone!” Interesting that his response wasn’t, “I am not interested in going to the NFL and I am only focused on winning this next game.”

If you wanted a head coach that is going to act like Pete Carroll and yell his brain out on the sideline, here is your guy! Unfortunately he may put his foot in his mouth too often and he also has not proven to be a winner.

Mora??? This guy is a turd sandwich. This would be a serious down grade from Turner. Wasn’t he the guy who talked about wanting to take a coaching job with a college team, while still in the middle of the Falcons season?

That would be the guy. In the middle of a playoff run

    No thanks… NEXT!

I have a feeling that we won’t like the next guy that comes in. Just a feeling. Not saying it is Mora or anyone. but most fans will not be happy with the selection.

I still hear “Playoffs?” when I think of Mora. As funny as that is to hear, I don’t want to hear that with my team. Please, no.

Meh, I think he’s good at where he’s at. My choice for the Chargers next HC is Chip Kelly but I think he’s heading more East than West so my next top choice is Mike Zimmer and secondly, Jay Gruden. I think that Mike Zimmer would fit in nicely in San Diego given the personnel that the team has but methinks the Chargers are going to someone with experience on the offensive side and keep Pagano. It’s going to ke quite an interesting off season.

Why are nominating another loser; get real and think winning instead of making excuses for six (Turner) years. Spanos needs to get some balls and get the guidance this franchise needs. Are we going to get back to the top (14-2) or be “also rans”? We should all know by mid February.

PASS………I would want them to hire some one who gasnt been head coach…like Bruce ARians, Pete Carmichael Jr. or Jay Gruden ( not to be confused with Jon) .
