Chargers Could Be Interested in Josh McDaniels

Albert Breer reported last week that the Chargers could be interested in New England Patriots coordinator and former Denver Broncos head coach Josh McDaniels. McDaniels was fired from the Denver Broncos in the middle of the 2010 season. In 2009, he looked like he was ready to lead the Broncos into a playoff berth, but they then slid into a 4-game losing streak to end the year. He lost 17 of his final 22 games as the Broncos coach, before getting fired.

If we make this hire, I would love to have him work with Shaun Phillips. Remember that little spat that the two had on the sideline before?

If you like the yelling type again, McDaniels fits the part. If you like spygate, he fits the part also. McDaniels is known as one of the best offensive minds in the NFL. He could be considered a new school offensive genius. This one yells and shows passion, but still has a losing record. Could he turn Philip Rivers and the offense around and make this team into a playoff team?

Agreed. He turned over a mess of picks for Tebow. The guy is a whack job. I don’t want him in SD.

  • blu3ny3llow

He might work out i think he can fired up the team….big reason he did bad with the donkos was cus he was given to much power and was a bite of a know it all..if who the GM is would keep him in check who knows……….oh yea enough with Cowher and Gruden already…………BOLTZ UP

    • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

Yea. He can’t be given any power for personnel decisions

  • JLMILES

Terrible, don’t even mention that idea it’s so, soooo bad. Two things: 1) Guy is less then a year removed from showing how bad of a head coach he is. 2) Patriots have proved over and over its their system; Belichick and Brady that produces winning seasons and not, NOT, their coordinators. Every year coordinators leave and they plug in someone new to take over with minimal impact.

McDaniels is not respected by the players on the Chargers and like it or not 70% of today’s players will be on the team next year. He is a punk and it will kill me if I see him roaming our sidelines next year.

well let’s consider the verbiage. ” known as one of the best offensive minds…”, “new school offensive genius..”, passion, with a losing record..”
i don’t know about you, but that sounds familiar.
Here’s some advice from Warren Sapp, “if someone tells you who they are the first time, believe it.” McDaniels is the new school Norv tuner.

As to the Patriots, that offense runs itself – through Brady and Bellichek. Highly doubt that McDaniels has done anything “genius” for a long time. I sure don’t want McDaniels giving up a ton of draft picks to the Jets so Tebow can come along for the SD ride.

      Agree wholeheartedly! No to McDaniels!

    Your an idiot.

Who you calling an idiot? And it is you’re*

      • RussinSactown

Ernie, you have an idiot? Where did you get an idiot. They stopped selling them on Amazon months ago.

        • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

Haha. Craigslist is where to get that

  • RussinSactown

There are many other coaches out there that are more proven. I’d push for Lovie Smith way before I bring in McDaniels. I’d even roll the dice on Jay Gruden in Cincy first. There’s a reason Elway tossed him overboard and look how they’re doing without the New school offensive genius on the sideline.

I would love love love Lovie!
