Should key San Diego Chargers players sit out last two games?

Two games left.  Two games that will end this miserable season.  Two games that mean nothing.  With that in mind, should key players like Philip Rivers, Ronnie Brown and Antonio Gates be gearing up to head out to the field?  Should Vincent Brown be rushing back in from his injury?

If Rivers starts on Sunday he will be tied for fifth with Tom Brady on the list of most consecutive regular season starts by a quarterback in NFLhistory. This will be Rivers 111th consecutive start in the regular season and his 118th overall if you add in playoffs.

But when the playoffs are no longer on the line and there are backups available should San Diego risk a potential injury for the sake of maybe winning a game?

I think they should not play unless absolutely needed.  What do you think?

i think they all should play . the only player im on the fence about is V Brown maybe he should sit till the last game of the season and even then i dont think he should start but just be in on a few plays just so he gets a lil game day experience but yeah everybody else better play there hearts out . they got themselves in the mess they should be able to finish it . thats just me.

I kind of do not want them to win. I’m already thinking draft pick plus I don’t want anyone we need to get broken. Everyone has seemed so delicate this season!

619chargers4life: I agree with you. With the exception of V Brown, the rest should play. I think Ronnie will play as will others to showcase what they have for other prospective teams, in the event they get let go also. Or to make a case to keep them on.

It would be an interesting conversation. When teams already have locked in their playoff spot, they sit their stars. Should teams that suck balls sit their boys too? I think Philip needs to put a good game together. Would want to see that out of him. Gates can sit. Weddle can play. Is there anyone else? Ha.

Since it will be cold Rivers may wear those gloves again. We could find out if maybe he’s just go a sweating problem?

Rivers is a gamer. Unless he’s dead, he’s playing. Gates and Brown might be the same way. It’s pride now. Something Gaither never showed.

How is Ronnie Brown a key player? He’s on a one year deal and he’s over 30. Unless you meant Vincent Brown, I think he should shut it down for the year. I do think that Brandon Taylor, Mouton, Wright,Gilchrist, Ingram and Ladarius Green need to get more playing time and experience at the expense of sitting the vets for more plays
