Tim Tebow Wants Out of New York. San Diego Chargers Should Say No Thank You.

The New York Jets decided to pass over Tim Tebow on the depth chart and start Greg McElroy on Sunday against the San Diego Chargers. After that news broke, there is talk that Tebow will be asked to be traded or released at the end of the season.

With our quarterback, Philip Rivers, struggling with turnovers, fans are looking in all directions for a possible backup or new starter to the team. Everyone has their own solutions. Some have mentioned Tebow’s as a possible pickup.

Those talks need to stop. Philip has been terrible, but having Tebow under center would be even uglier. He can run the football and he can run the football and he can run the football. But all he can do is run the football. He is not a quarterback. He is an athlete, but he doesn’t belong under center. If he came to town, he would bring on a media monster and any errant throw that Philip made would inspire Tebow talk.

Out quarterback for 2013 is Philip Rivers. The team needs to focus on surrounding him with weapons. If he can’t produce with weapons around him and a newly built offensive line, then we look at possible replacement. If Tebow was interested in playing another position (fullback? Tight end?), then just maybe we can talk. Probably still wouldn’t want that media frenzy.

X out even bringing up Tebow’s name. lol. If the Spanos clan thinks that Tebow would be a positive thing for the Chargers and Rivers, etc, then they better move. We don’t need the circus in San Diego. It would totally demoralize Rivers. However, that is the Tebow M.O. –going where he can take another QB’s job. He is not interested in a team that simply wants him to start like Jacksonville. He’s more interested in taking away someone’s job.

Right!! We don’t need that mess

      • http://www.facebook.com/ryan.lester.98 Ryan Lester

like it or not phillip is the best QB we are gonna get for a while. If we can get a compentent O-line i bet u money we’ll see the Phillip of old again..

    • http://twitter.com/ianjekberg IanJ

The circus is already in SD,
this year has been an embarrassment and the chargers are the laughing stalk of the league. Stef when are you gonna wake up and realize that Philip isn’t the answer, your clearly overdosing on chill pills.

      • http://www.facebook.com/lostkiara Stefanie Smith

And you think Tebow– the clown of NYC will be an upgrade?

        • http://twitter.com/ianjekberg IanJ

No I already stated tebow isn’t the answer but neither is rivers. C’mon Stef you sound just as dilusional as Aj smith and norve turner.

          • arnie

i’d be interested to know what you base that assumption on? that Philip is not the answer.

    • http://twitter.com/ianjekberg IanJ

You sound like your apart of the Spanos clan, any real charger fan wouldn’t even drop a line hinting to relocate the franchise, go bandwagon on another team, cause you ain’t a charger fan.

      • http://www.facebook.com/lostkiara Stefanie Smith

There are articles about relocating right on this site, you nimrod.

    • http://www.facebook.com/ryan.lester.98 Ryan Lester

hes only interested in taking other peoples jobs? i didnt realize that you know tebow so well… tebow gets it done when he needs to. Rob ryan is just a stubborn man who didnt want the nfl community to see how wrong he was keeping tebow out. it makes no sense.

oh goodness, whatever! Maybe we need something shake up the town a bit. Why does everyone have to be so negative? Bring him in as back up. If Rivers starts messing up again..TEBOW TIME. Betcha next week Rivers will not mess up again.

    • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

That’s what they thought with Mark Sanchez in New York though. I like Tebow, but not as a QB

    • http://www.facebook.com/lostkiara Stefanie Smith

I can think of a lot better candidates than Tebow if what we are going for is “shaking up the town”.

  • arnie

Ernie, these talks about replacing rivers needs to stop, tebow is not the answer. the answer to the chargers poorly performing QB is the HC an the O-line. Keep this in mind, when was the last time this o-line produced a 100 yard rusher? When has the o-line dominated up front, imposed it’s will on defenses, and not let any one get within a yard of PR’s cleats?
the only correction i can see for PR is holding him accountable for his actions. if you can’t turn to clipboard jesus, then there is no pressure on PR to perform.

    • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

I am with you. Philip deserves a shot with a better oline and some weapons around him. There are a lot of fans that have lost that patience though. Philip will get next year to prove me all wrong, but if he struggles again, then it has to be time to move on.
      Ernie Padaon

      • http://twitter.com/ianjekberg IanJ

Philip already had a shot when he had LT behind him and V Jack on the outside but he couldn’t deliver. The problem isn’t Phillip it’s Spanos’ cheap ass. I like rivers but he is slow and only as good as the players around him. He is a good qb ill give him that but not elite.

  • http://twitter.com/ianjekberg IanJ

Last time I checked tebow lead the broncos into the playoffs last year and made it past the first round. Bottom line Tebow pulls out games in crunch time, something Rivers hasn’t done for some time. Rivers is a QB of the past, the game is changing you need to be somewhat mobile. Tebow isn’t the answer but he wins games and in the nfl that’s all that matters.

    • http://www.facebook.com/lostkiara Stefanie Smith

Yeah, Peyton Manning is real mobile (Not!). Far better on his worse day than Tebow would/could ever be.

      • http://twitter.com/ianjekberg IanJ

Your comparing tebow to manning? Are you serious right now? And manning can move when he needs to he is mobile.

    • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

Last I looked Tebow was riding third string in New York. I bet almost every team in this league would take Philip over Tebow.

      • http://twitter.com/ianjekberg IanJ

It was a publicity stunt Rex was gonna ride the Sanchez train right out of town. If they started tebow this week and won they would look like a buch of nincompoops. But you guys sound completely satisfied with rivers the pick six gump who is washed up. I’ve had enough.

        • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

No. You got it a little twisted. I wouldn’t want Tebow as the solution. I would rather fight on with Rivers if that was my other option. Philip has played like crap. His decision making has been inexcusable. It’s hard for me to believe he is done. Big Ben and Eli are at the top of their game. The talent around Philip has disappeared. Personally, I ride out one more season with Phil and if it is a failure, then look out for another QB. Best QB avail this year will be Alex Smith.

          • http://twitter.com/ianjekberg IanJ

I don’t think tebow is the answer either but i no longer have any faith in rivers he makes horrible decisions at the worst times, I’ve seen enough, time for a change.

          • http://twitter.com/ianjekberg IanJ

Not sure why you had to bring up Eli the cry baby and rapelisberger but I see your thought process is similar to smith, turner and Spanos, ride it out one more year with Rivers and ill say I told you so at the end of next season

          • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

            Ha. We will find out

          • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

Question. Who would you bring in?

  • 619chargers4life

there is no way Tebow will be in a san diego uniform. not gonna happen.

    • http://twitter.com/ianjekberg IanJ

Hey brah I agree but San Diego needs a miracle ; )

      • 619chargers4life

lol Tebow aint a walking miracle he is a football player that feels strongly about his belief. im a believer but not a LB FB WR and a QB all in one Believer . he is an athlete cant deny that. but he cant throw the rock. If he can block and play some sort of tackle position i might consider it but he cant even do that, i think he gave up at least two blocked punts on the punt team this year hence he aint even worth a ST job. C-Mon Man lol usually u go to college pick ur craft and perfect it weather its academics or its athletics or both. my opinion is that he needs to find a position and perfect it . go for what he know and knows well and stick to it. Tebow mania is not something i look forward to. but hey everybody has there own cup of tea. and tebow aint the flavor i feel the chargers need. Go chargers :)

  • http://twitter.com/ianjekberg IanJ

Everybody is so quick to critique Tebow but his passer rating in the fourth quarter is up there with Brady and Rodgers, granted he struggles with his accuracy but the guy can ball and he has proven that at the end of his rookie year and his second year in Denver. Does everybody have short term memory loss?

  • veazy

Is Tebow the only Jet in that prayer circle?

    • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

      Hahaha. Maybe
