Based off of a report from Michael Gehlken, it appears that the Chargers will shut down Vincent Brown for the rest of the season and let him continue his rehab on his ankle. There was hope early in the season that he would be able to return and contribute to a playoff push, but the team is far from the playoff hunt now and there is no need to risk Brown in live game action this year. He can focus on getting healthy and make a big push for a lot of playing time next season.
Brown could have been a huge contributor on the offense. Robert Meachem struggled to get any chemistry with Philip Rivers and Eddie Royal can barely find time off of the injury report. Brown would have stepped into the starting lineup quickly and made an impact.
If Brown were available though, we would have never found the gem in Danario Alexander. Next season, we could have Alexander, Brown and Malcom Floyd as the top 3 receivers on the roster. That sounds some kind of nice! We would have to find a way to sign Alexander to a contract this offseason.
We also better figure out how to block for Philip though and figure out how to run the football. Then the offense could really get moving.
