Chargers Should Just Keep Vincent Brown Out For the Rest of the Year

Jody Gomez-US PRESSWIRE

Vincent Brown is getting closer to returning, but is there any benefit in bringing him back this season. He would improve the offense, but our biggest need is on the offensive line. He still won’t be available this weekend against the Bengals and it might be more beneficial to keep him on IR for the rest of the season.

The season looks lost and there is no need to risk one of the future stars on the offense. He can use the extra time to recover from the broken ankle and come back strong next season. He doesn’t need to take the extra hits. He already has good chemistry with Philip Rivers on offense, so he doesn’t have the Robert Meachem syndrome to deal with.

It would be awesome to see him on the field making acrobatic catches and adding another weapon on offense, but it’s not worth the risk. That ankle can just rest up and get as strong as possible for next season’s run to the playoffs. Keep him on the sideline in street clothes.
