Facebook Fan Post: “NORV TURNER IS NOT THE PROBLEM…”

Here is a fan post from our Bolt Beat Facebook from Paul Miller. You can tell he is intense, because everything was written in caps:

I NEVER THOUGHT THAT I WOULD SAY THIS, BUT HERE GOES. NORV TURNER IS NOT THE PROBLEM IN SAN DIEGO NOR IS THE PROBLEM LACK OF TALENT ON THE TEAM. THE PROBLEM IS WHERE IS THE HEART OF A LION AND DARNIT DETERMINATION THAT PHILIP RIVERS USED TO HAVE WHICH MADE BELIEVERS OUT OF SO-SO PLAYERS AND FANS? WHERE IS THE WINNING ATTITUDE OF THE PLAYERS AROUND HIM. THE CHARGERS ARE LOSING BECAUSE OF LACK OF FIRE AND COMMITMENT IN THEIR EYES AND GUTS. THE PLAYERS ARE IN PLACE TO WIN THEY JUST HAVE TO UNDERSTAND THAT YOU HAVE TO BE GOOD FOR THE ENTIRE GAME AND TAKE NOTHING FOR GRANTED. THEY HAVE TO TREAT OPPOSING QB’S LIKE THEY ARE A JUICY SIRLOIN AND EAT EM UP. AGAINST TAMPA, THERE WERE SO TIMES THAT THE CHARGERS COULD HAVE SACKED THE QB OR MADE A DRIVE STOPPING TACKLE(SOMEONE PLEASE TEACH THESE GUYS TO STOP ARM TACKLING AND HOW TO PUSH SOMEONE OUT OF BOUNDS). DENVER IS WHO WE THOUGHT THEY WERE IN THE FIRST HALF OF OUR FIRST MEETING THIS SEASON, SO SUNDAY PLAY THEM THAT WAY FOR THE ENTIRE GAME AND WE WILL WIN. REAL FANS DON’T GIVE UP……… BUT REAL NFL PLAYERS PLAY EVERY GAME ALL GAME…….. THE 2012 CHARGERS ARE A PLAYOFF TEAM, THEY JUST NEED TO KNOW THIS AND BELIEVE. RIVERS I LOVE YA! YOU HAVE TO LIGHT THE MATCH THAT STARTS THE FIRE…. LETS DO THIS THANGGGG! GO CHARGERS!

Love the fire and love that Paul still believes in the team. He knows he is putting himself on a ledge by saying that Norv is not the problem. Don’t kill the guy for it, respect the opinion and discuss this like gentlemen (and ladies)…. at least I asked nicely.

If you got an opinion you want heard from the Bolt Beat fam, hit us up on the facebook page and write up a post. This is your forum as well!

The players dont want to play for Norv. They get paid to say they back him up. The problem is still Norv. Fire him.

Agreed but it is the head coaches job to light that fire under the players ass and the players have never played hard under norve turner. Just my personal opinion but i feel that the lack of effort in the players can be places on the head coach.

Way to go Paul! Keep on Bolting Up! I appreciate his passion for our Bolts, but out of all of the problems we have Norv is the biggest.

Love the passion, but until HC is someone that has a pulse & commands this team, it’s more of the same….Groundhog day over and over…I read some guy’s post the other day saying Denver is just a Peyton neck injury away from playoff collapse….Really?
If SD’s OLine would play like Denver’s does for Ol’ Peyton, we’d be headed somewhere…instead the team is headed for a seat in their own living room without a playoff birth for a 3rd year straight…so frustrating…I haven’t seen anything to lead me to believe they still can pull it off if they even make the playoffs…too much inconsistency

I like the way you say real fans don’t give up.But real NFL players have to play every game all game… Well who the heck do you think pays for them to play tho’s games ? Real fans due.And tho’s bums we love and pay for keep letting us down year after year. But were suppost to be loyal. And we are.But are they to us ? Were there bread and butter. So when you say real fans do you meen only the ones that suck it up and never say anything ? Who are the real fans ? And who are the phoney fans ?

Coaching is the only problem in San Diego. they have the talent, but all of these guys have major issues with their focus on gameday. Dropped balls, missed assignments, ugly turnovers … you dont see this with the Steelers, Patriots, and other well coached teams … at least not with the regularity that the Chargers have. Norv is a great offensive mind but he is not a head coach. Just like Wade Phillips he needs to understand his place in the NFL … he is a coordinator, and not the leader of a team.

man, that got me pumped!!! Now if only the players cared as much as we do.

Norv is Norv. He’s a .500 coach (actually Career record 115–122–1) and has been the same his whole career. He doesn’t ignite that fire that you are calling for. I know the players like him but they don’t play for him. Norv may not be the problem but his removal will lead to the solution.

I like Norv. He’s a good coach, really. However the facts an numbers say, he has not been a very good “Head Coach”. Norv can be my Offensive coordinator anytime. I point to his rings in dallas, as an example. An the success he’s created here, under Marty. Coaches don’t get fired because they are not liked, ( marty?) they get fired because they have job to do. and when it becomes clear that job isn’t being done, changes are made.

Norv was hired to do a job. he was given a 14-2 team to do it. they are now 3-5 with six games left to play. they were Superbowl competitor when Norv was hired. they have been out of the playoffs with an 9-7 an 8-8 (his second here) records, the last two seasons. He has had help.
