Chargers 24 - Bucs 34: Philip With a Stupid Interception that Goes for a TD

Philip Rivers played AWESOME except for a couple of retarded plays. The Chargers also disappeared in the second half once again. After scoring 21 points in the first half, the team was only able to muster up 3 points in the second half.

With the Chargers down by 3 in the third quarter, Philip was chased out of the pocket and scrambled to his right side. Instead of throwing the ball out of bounds and settling for a field goal, he threw it directly at a Tampa defender. He took it all the way back for a touchdown!

This team cannot get anything going in the second half of games. Three points! This has been the story of the season. Lost games to Denver and New Orleans after the team failed to put up points in the second half.

The Chargers have now lost to the Bucs and the Browns within three weeks. Let’s just call it what it is – this team is not good.

to late, Vick just got hurt. Again!!! lol

Eagles’ O-line borders on criminal. They have none. Every team out there knows it and Vick’s head and body pays for it.

            WORD!!!!

Sigh… Another half time lead… Another Rivers 2nd half meltdown, as usual. That interception for the pick six has become his signature play. Coaches probably tell their team at the half.. “Don’t worry.. He is going to throw you a pick six, without scoring this half… Just be patient”. How do you have THOSE #’s, but still lose? Because you are the Chargers.. That’s why.

I would be pissed at Rivers if I were the offense OR the defense. The D pretty much contained Jackson from having a huge day.. same thing with Martin. The offense helps you put up 3 TD’s, and a FG. You are still in the game, and overcoming the adversity of the punt block…then Rivers single-handedly squanders any chance of coming back to win. The Bucs didn’t even really have to play that good. Rivers is killing this team with turnovers… and it’s always a terrible throw that usually has nothing to do with protection. What’s up with that? Why was that throw even in bounds? There wasn’t a receiver near it! Mad Props to Scifres FYI. Glad he doesn’t have a broken leg after that hit.

I truly believe that other teams have the Chargers’ M.O. You’re right. They probably do say that now. We have this reputation of giving up the ball.

I didn’t even get to watch the whole Game to get that feeling the Bucs would win. The the chargers seem to be “content” to stay the course. While the Bucs HC seems to have his team with a never quit attitude. it’s working. The truth be told, i just can’t pick the chargers to win any game.
Same story, chargers still cant play 60 minutes of football. An no matter what they say, or how good they feel, everything about what type of team they are, still ends up on the field.

#17 is like Dr. Rivers and Mr. Favre

    • http://www.facebook.com/pete.spinning Pete Spinning

Huurrrppp… I just threw up in my mouth. Not because you made the comment (which you are right, and it is true).. but, because our QB just got compared to the worst part of that d-bag Brett Favre’s passing game. Sad state of affairs.

      • Vardog

Sorry about the crap in your mouth. Im just calling it how I see it. LOL

        • http://www.facebook.com/pete.spinning Pete Spinning

Hahaha… no worries. I just can’t believe how far Rivers has sunk to become like that. He was a friggin’ beast 2 years ago! What the hell happened? I can’t blame it on age or losing V-Jax (He was hitting every wideout all day!). He is playing like a friggin’ elite QB one half… then like a rookie the next. “Dr. Rivers & Mr. Favre” is spot on.

          • Vardog

I hear ya buddy. One moment he looks awesome and then falls apart at the crucial times. IMO, I think he needs to take what the defense gives him instead of forcing balls further down field. If it’s only 5 yards at a time, so be it. It’s better than INT’s.

  • http://www.facebook.com/lostkiara Stefanie Smith

This was on Rivers. He has to improve NOW. Not a rookie any longer. We were in the game until he blew it. We are getting known for Rivers’ interceptions at crucial times. Something has to give here.

    • arnie

I agree Stefanie Smith, but you have to look at this in context. Why is Rivers Playing this way? in order for the QB to improve, does his HC have the ability help his QB make those improvements? I know turner didn’t throw the INT’s, but what is he doing to hold his QB accountable? they benched Mathews for one fumble.
Also is the O-line the beast it once was, when LT was league MVP? We’ve seen what QB’s, with less talent than PR, can do with time. We’ve seen what PR can do. Maybe it’s time to start looking for players, above the 7th round, to protect him.
We are really starting to see the impact of losing pro-bowl players like Vj and Sproles, to name a few? sometimes you don’t get what you pay for. the chargers 3-n-outs have increased, Sproles made a lot of plays on 3-n-long. Gates has disappeared, he get’s double teamed. why? VJ was a threat and he took that double team with him, which opened Gates, Floyd, Brown an the running game.
so before i start throwing PR under the bus, i asked myself, “How did we get here?”

      • arnie

P.S. notice how Jay Cutler has improved, by “adding” Marshal, Signing Forte, an not being afraid to cut ties with O-linmen, that weren’t protecting Cutler, by giving him time to throw. they are 6-2

        • http://www.facebook.com/lostkiara Stefanie Smith

Thanks for your comments. Actually, I cannot disagree with you. You are right. There are more problems within the Chargers’ organization than PR. I wish someone would ask Norv or AJ or Spanos this exact question” :How did we get here?”. They will never answer it because they know they play a huge part in the deterioration of a team that was really great.

          • arnie

exactly. they are the reason for the problem. that’s why i say, no matter how they try to spin it, ” i an’t drinking the Kool-Aid no more.”

  • http://www.facebook.com/lostkiara Stefanie Smith

Not to start a s**tstorm of controversy, but I highly doubt that Rivers is putting in the extra hours off the field to fix what is ailing him, like Peyton Manning did and is still doing. And our answer is not recruiting a new QB from Grossmont College where AJ would likely go.

  • akiva96

At the beginning of the season Norv said that this team was the best group of guys he had ever coached. Which is pure BS – but by his own words he has no excuse for them being this lame. There is nothing to lose by firing him now and getting a jump on hiring the best coach available before the other dominoes start falling and the competition for coaches heats up.
Next week ought to be another amazing beat down…
Oh and I just wanted to thank Rivers for lobbying to keep Norv as the head coach. That’s the worst pick this season LOL!

    • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

Hahahaha… That was a good one

    • arnie

agreed. should have lobbied to keep sproles an VJ.
