Rumor Mill: Jon Gruden Ready to get back into coaching

Rumors are flying that Jon Gruden will be looking to get back into coaching next season. Sources around him have shared that he is looking into diffrerent assistant coaches around the league and seeing what their potential availability will be after the season. Former Eagles defensive coordinator Juan Castillo and Chargers special teams coach Rich Bisaccia are a couple of coaches that he could be looking to recruit for his next destination.

Gruden is looking to join a team that has some talent on the roster and has good ownership. The San Diego Chargers job could be available at the end of the season if Norv Turner is unable to lead the team through a post season run. Fans want that big name with a proven track record to come in here and turn things around. Some fans will take almost anyone that is not Norv.

Other potential openings that could be a nice fit for Gruden are with the Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys and New York Jets.

“Gruden is looking to join a team that has some talent on the roster and has good ownership” So how does the Spanos’ ownership rank??? Do the Chargers even have a remote chance landing Chucky? Dean’s made some bad decisions over the years….just sayin’

he is also looking for a big market… if he comes here, could we be moving to Los Angeles?

not exactly sure where the Spanos ownership ranks among the league… i know Gruden has said that Philip Rivers is one of his favorite quarterbacks and he is full of compliments of the organization any time he speaks about it. It definitely seems like one of the jobs that he would be interested in… now would we be interested in him is the question.

From Forbes top ten owners list November 2011:
Ranked 7th best in the league. Alex Spanos – San Diego Chargers
Chargers owner Alexander Spanos founded his own catering company in 1951 with an $800 loan, and then funneled his profits into real estate. A.G. Spanos Companies is now one of the country’s largest apartment developers.
      Five-Year Franchise Value: 11% increase.
      Five-Year Win Percentage: 69%.

Well, that’s real nice but it is DEAN Spanos in charge of the Chargers, not Alex, a self made man. The chargers owner, DEAN, is a man born into wealth with a far different personality that his father.

Oh, I know. I wasn’t saying anything by posting it, or trying to be cute. The article was written last year, and was talking about rank of ownership in the NFL. It seemed to vaguely address the question asked above. I remember seeing another article from Forbes that said pretty much the same thing, but about Dean. I got bored of looking for it though. I don’t necessarily agree that Dean is a good owner, either. I feel like John Gruden sees our ownership through different eyes than us, though. Its an opinion.

Thanks Pete for pointing it out that way….I look at it from the Mannings sticking it to the Spanos’ point of view. Yes the glass is half full, but it just doesn’t set well with me…I don’t feel the commitment to winning….bad decisions from Bobby Ross, Marty, all the talent they let go over money…..NORF still here…
When you see the owners of Pittsburgh and New England constantly in the hunt… and consistently mind you….for us it’s always a freakish roller coaster ride that makes you wanna check in to an asylum because we’re addicted to this sort of punishment….LOL..I keep hopin’ and prayin’ one day before I leave this world they get it right….

He should go back to coaching. He is a terrible commentator.

Gruden is a terrible head coach. He won the Super Bowl with a team built by Tony Dungy and because the Raiders were too stupid to change their plays considering the opposing coach designed their offense. In 7 years they went to the playoffs 3 times(never in consecutive years) and they finished either 3rd or 4th in the division the other 4 years. He was fired for a reason. I dont get what everyone sees in him, I hope his MNF commentary isnt a reflection on his ability to assess talent. According to him every average player that happens to make a play on national television is underrated and a rising superstar. “I’m telling you this guy is something special”

And even so, he would still be about twice as good as Norv!

this is gonna’ happen, like norv is going to get fired next week.
ain’t gonna happen. my money is on Rich Bisachi…
