Chargers Need Eddie Royal Back… BUT NOT AS A RECEIVER!!!

I will have to admit that I liked the signing of Eddie Royal when we made it. I thought that he would be able to add a different dimenstion to the receiving units that we didn’t have. He would be a nice option in the slot. He knows how to make people miss in the open field.

I thought Norv would be able to maximize his skills in the offense… BUT I forgot we are talking about the offensive mastermind Norv Turner.

Royal is just another Robert Meachem on the field. He is taking up space. He still has not made an impact. He is just another guy.

The main reason that we need Royal back is for special teams!

With Richard Goodman out with an injury, the team has had use Curtis Brinkley on kickoff returns. Using Brinkley there is not too troublesome. Royal has showed in the past that he is a good kickoff returner though.

The scariest thing is using Eric Weddle on punt returns. He has already muffed one punt and has fumbled the ball away on another return. Why is our best player returning punts when he SUCKS at it? Is there really nobody else? Use Antoine Cason or sign someone off the street! Eddie just needs to get healthy and take over the special teams returner role. His snaps on offense might decrease a bit, but that could keep him a little more healthy for the rest of the season.

We still are waiting for a huge return on a punt or kickoff.

Yeah, I get Norv-ous every time I see Weddle back there on punt returns.

$13.5 milllion is a lot to pay for a kick-off return guy.

YES!!!!! but can we really trust him with more than that? maybe he can prep Nick Novak’s spot next to the Gatorade jugs.

LOL. i’d say no. we can’t trust him with more than that. he’s already proven that. if you can’t stay healthy, or catch the ball, how the chargers count on you?
