The Bolt Files – Missing Offense

Okay, I will have to admit two things.  One, I didn’t think “The Bolt Files” was going to be a recurring theme, but here we are.  Two, this post may be short because I watched most of the game through my fingers which were placed securely over my eyes.

I am really at a loss for the words that could possibly convey how the Chargers played yesterday against the Browns.  Awful, terrible, lethargic, nope.  Sad, pathetic, sloppy, nope.  Unfocused!  Yes, that is the word.  I seem to recall my post on Friday had a common theme.  FOCUS!

This is the Chargers third loss in a row.  Now out of first place and scratching their heads as if making adjustments and learning from mistakes is a new concept.  Where is the offense that the Chargers put out there in weeks one, two and four?  They had moves, plays, touchdowns and confidence.

It’s painful to look at, but here are some stats from yesterday.  Rivers – 154 yards (that’s for the entire game, not just one quarter!), Mathews – 104 total yards (hmm, only 50 less than Rivers!), Brown – 102 yards, Gates – 14 yards.  Oh wait, I’m beginning to see a pattern.  Obviously, Norv Turner does not trust Rivers to not throw an interception so the Chargers are now a running offense.  Pretty easier to defend against and that’s not our bag.  Hey Turner, heard of the West Coast Offense?  Well, that’s how we roll.  We need to put the big pass play back into the game and stop being afraid.  That’s how we get our swagger back.

I guess I had a lot more to get out than I thought.  Thanks for reading and let’s get ready for a great divisional matchup on Thursday.  It is here at home and I will be at the Q rooting our Chargers on.  I wish I could be down on the sidelines calling in the plays, but alas, the Spanos family still has not called me in.  We need to beat the Chiefs one more time!

I want to believe.

The reason we can’t pass is the same reason as last year. Rivers drops back, counts to two and has to run for his life. The line can’t pass block.

Thanks to AJ using a Groupon in free agency I’m getting “hang in there” advice from Raider fans. Any suggestions on what liquor goes with chill pill?

I recommend that if the game isn’t going well, drop a roofie in your drink. That way you can’t remember what happened, and still think you are tied for first place when you wake up.

I’ve been using rum, hence last weeks “bright side” post. I’m going to follow Ernie and switch to Patron. Silver. BTW, LOVE the Groupon comment!
