If coming off consecutive tough losses wasn’t bad enough, the San Diego Chargers will return to work Monday with another distraction.

Under commissioner Roger Goodell, the NFL has made player conduct one of its biggest priorities. Cheating has been dealt with harshly (just ask the Saints).

Panthers’ owner just fired their GM today for poor performance of his team. Will Spanos react in some manner to what is happening to the Chargers? Probably not. If he does not react, and if this “cheating” thing is true, it will taint the entire team and the Spanos/Chargers’ reputation and brand. Moving to LA will not make this go away. I am a Chargers’ fan, but at this point, it is more important that Spanos does something NOW. Not next season, not later. Accepting this kind of management should not be an option.

I guess it’s “Let’s see how bad we can tarnish the Charger’s reputation month” down at HQ. I can almost hear them saying “More excuses coming right up!”
I expect something along the lines of “Let’s find out what the results of the investigation are first, and then we’ll see if anything needs to be done”. (even though they probably already know what was going on). And, I have a question… if they “confiscated the sticky substance” at the Denver game.. doesn’t that mean they already knew about this situation when they released their “Take a Chill Pill” article? Pretty insulting! Nice.

Even if we do get to the playoffs (or the Super Bowl) this year, there will be a big fat asterisk next to it. Everyone will be saying that three of these wins were the result of cheating. Not that I expect a Super Bowl from this group of mental midgets!

Spanos better be livid. They better wonder whether LA wants a team moving in that is surrounded by this type of controversy.
