Jared Gaither is ready to get out onto the field on Monday Night. He hasn’t hit the practice field yet this week, but he has already declared himself ready for the game.
“I look forward to being out there,” Gaither said. “I don’t want to say ‘why wouldn’t I be?’ but I don’t see why not.”
He said it, so I believe him. He said that he would be back in Kansas City after only practicing 3 times and he was out there.
A sore ‘little’ groin can’t slow him down…
Well, I guess it could slow him down.
“I got hurt, tried to find a way around it,” Gaither said. “I was unsuccessful. Anytime there’s 30 seconds left in the game, you want to try and find a way to get it done, not only for yourself but for your teammates. You want to be out there to get the win. …
“You want to be able to go out there and do your job. Some people get nicked up, I never had a groin (injury) before. I didn’t know if it was going to be limit me much, and it limited me a lot.”
I still give him credit for trying to tough it out. I gave him so much crap for not playing through his back injury and will not give him crap for actually doing what has been asked by all of us.
I do think it is crap that Norv is passing he blame to Gaither to get out of the game. Maybe Jared should have said a little something, but someone else has to see that. The play before the actual sack was an incompleted pass. Gaither was beat BAD on that play also and that is why Cris Collinsworth noticed it.
Gaither will be back on Monday Night and the offense needs him. Before all the attention of his groin at the end of the game, he was getting praise for his ability to block downfield and get outside to block for screens. He was praised for his pass blocking. He was praised for being a big dude with good speed. Then, he became the goat.
Jared just can’t make San Diego fans happy.
