The Chargers couldn’t close out the Saints on Sunday night and now have to face a hungry Denver Broncos team. The Broncos hold a 2-3 record and want a spot at the top of the AFC West. They have had a rough schedule to start out the year and are hoping to start their ascension on Monday Night.
The Chargers have a number of things to be concerned about in this game. First it starts with themselves. Will they be able to put a complete game together? Can they beat a good football team?
Can they stop a good passing team? Peyton Manning will be under center and has big physical receivers on the outside. Demaryius Thomas and Eric Decker have given the team issues before with Tim Tebow throwing them the ball, now the Broncos have a good quarterback slinging it around.
Thomas is one of the up and coming receivers in the league. The Chargers have had trouble stopping big time talent this year. Roddie White, Dwayne Bowe and Marques Colston all tore up the Chargers secondary. Thomas has the ability to join that group.
The Chargers secondary has given up big plays this year. Antoine Cason has gotten burned left and right. Quentin Jammer was nowhere to be found on Drew Brees‘ record setting pass. They both have to step up. Peyton will be sure to test them.
On offense, the Chargers need to control Von Miller. Miller is one of the top pass rushers in the league. Jeromey Clary and Jared Gaither will have to protect Philip Rivers and give him time to throw the football. Miller can change the game. We can’t let him do it.
