The Chris Carr move was made official today and the corresponding move will be announced tomorrow. The picture that they use for Carr on the Chargers Official Website looks a little freaky, but that must be how he puts fear in receivers.
Carr was a starter in Baltimore a couple of seasons ago and will be added to the Chargers secondary that only suited up 3 corners against the Kansas City Chiefs. The high powered Saints offense will require a little more help in the secondary.
“Chris is an experienced player,” Chargers coach Norv Turner said. “I was fortunate to be with him for a couple years in Oakland. He’s bounced around the league a little bit but has played at a high level. He’s been a starter in a couple of places so he brings experience. He can play in the slot and on the outside, so he’s a good addition for us.”
“I’m extremely excited to join the Chargers,” Carr said. “I know a lot of coaches on this staff and a lot of players. They’re a contender and a good team that competes year after year. San Diego is a beautiful place, so I’m really excited about this opportunity.”
The move will take place tomorrow and the corresponding move has not yet been announced. One of the possible corresponding moves that has been mentioned is placing Nate Kaeding on IR. Kaeding hurt his groin last week and he is getting evaluated today by a specialist. The results of that evaluation could determine the fate of his roster spot or someone else’s.
If Kaeding will be able to return later in the year, there will be a tough roster decision for the Chargers to make.
