It is hard to hide a 300 pound man that colors his hair like Dennis Rodman and drives a Hello Kitty smart car. Antonio Garay has been hiding out all season. He has not appeared on the injury report since week 2 and has been a full participant in practice since that time.
With Garay sitting on the sideline, Aubrayo Franklin has stepped in and been a monster in the middle. He is the type of wall that a 3-4 defense needs. He has been gobbling up blockers and allowing his linebackers to make plays. The run defense has done great with Franklin in the middle.
Garay is one of the few veterans on the front line. He was seen as the ring leader to that group of guys up front, but he has been rather quiet of late. Seems odd that he would be on the inactive list, when he is healthy.
The Chargers do have a lot of big men to use up front, but it wouldn’t hurt to add another to the rotation. Franklin and Cam Thomas have been manning the middle, while Vaughn Martin, Corey Liuget and Kendall Reyes have worked off the ends. In the nickle defense, the Chargers bring a linebacker up to play end, usually Shaun Phillips.
With the possible signing of CB Chris Carr onto the roster, could Garay be the odd man out? He better not be!
