Chargers Beat Chiefs: Earning Their Lightning Bolts

the Matt Cassel pass magnet… Mandatory Credit: John Rieger-US PRESSWIRE

The San Diego Chargers put a whoopin on the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. The defense dominated the performance, forcing 6 turnovers in the game. Maybe we should give a game ball over to Matt Cassel for his interceptions or Jamaal Charles for putting the ball on the ground twice.

Here are a few standouts from the game:

Donald Butler
The Butler did it. And he kept on doing it all over the field with impact plays. He put pressure on Matt Cassel, knocked players out, intercepted the ball and scored a touchdown. Now that is impact. It is good to see some impact players on the defensive side of the ball.

Eric Weddle
Speaking of impact players on the defensive side of the ball, Weddle loves catching Matt Cassel passes. Weddle picked off his 4th Cassel pass on Sunday. I really do wonder if he has a Matt Cassel magnet under his uniform.

Jared Gaither
Just three practices and he is out on the field against his former team slowing down Tamba Hali. I am sure Philip Rivers could tell that his left tackle was back. What a difference one giant left tackle can make to an offense.

Nick Novak
Playing PS3 on Friday and then kicking field goals in the NFL on Sunday. That can’t be an easy gig for Novak, but he nailed it.
