Morning Dump

The Kansas City Chiefs didn’t look much like AFC West contenders during the first half of their game last weekend.

Hey there, Chiefs fans! It’s Thursday, which means it’s time to look at the oddsmaker’s forecasts of this week’s games. We’ve got two head-to-head AFC West matchups this weekend, with the Kansas City Chiefs taking on the San Diego Chargers, and the Denver Broncos in a fight with the Oakland Raiders. I’ll take a look around the league at some shifting lines, some trends for those games, pick a few games, and recommend a beer to pick up for this weekend’s games.

San Diego Chargers running back Ryan Mathews is a bit of a tease. He looks like he could be a top-five NFL running back, but injury issues have prevented that from happening.

The Chargers practiced a few hours earlier than normal on Thursday to prepare for a morning kickoff against the Chiefs on Sunday.

San Diego left tackle Jared Gaither continued to practice on a limited basis and he hopes to play Sunday at Kansas City for the first time since injuring his back in July.

After 3 weeks and a 2-1 record, the San Diego Chargers have no idea who they are. Well, they know that they’re a team with a very good Special Teams unit from top to bottom, but on defense and offense they’re still trying to figure out their identity. At some point this season, hopefully, they’ll figure it out and I intend to keep track of how that is going each week.
