Falcons Beat Chargers: Team Grades With Gifs

Time for grades again… SIGH! Wish that we could have more happiness on this grading with gifs post, but what game was all crap throughout. Let’s get to the grading:

Offense

Ryan Mathews back. Antonio Gates back. Philip Rivers has been much better protecting the football. We look all pretty and ready to go, then we get out there and can’t even walk straight! Four dumb turnovers in the game!

Losing the ball at the goal line can’t happen! CAN’T!!!!!

A 3 spot on the scoreboard?!? Better come out next week firing on all cylinders.

The offensive line needs to block better and the offense needs to protect that football.

Defense

Where was the pressure? Where was this aggressive defense? Where did the guys go on 3rd down?

When the Falcons started with the ball at the 4-yard line, you would expect to get the ball back with some decent field position. That is if your defense does it’s job!

Instead, the defense let the Falcons march down the field and convert 3rd down after 3rd down.

Special Teams

Richard Goodman almost broke one back and Nate Kaeding made his only attempt, but I keep thinking about that shank from Mike Scifres. When you can’t count on Mike Scifres to get the job done, then you know that the team is having a bad, bad, bad day.

Momentum is huge for this team, when they are on a roll they just keep on going and are very hard to stop, but when you fumble the ball on the 3 yard line going in for a TD that would give you the lead it takes the wind out of the sails.. and this team has never been able to rebound “In Norv Turners Tenure” in a game when things like that happen… This team will be fine if we can get back to playing SMART football and protect the ball.
