Falcons 27 – Chargers 3 ~ Game Review

Ok, I was originally just going to call today’s blog “NOOOOOOOOOOO, and other things I yelled during the Chargers game”, but I decided to attempt to keep emotion out of it.  We will see how that goes.

Let me start by saying – WTF!?  I am actually shocked by our performance (or lack thereof) yesterday.  The Chargers and Falcons were both coming into this game at 2-0 and fully capable of pulling off the win.  The unfortunate part is that the Atlanta Falcons actually showed up with a game plan and executed it.  The San Diego Chargers looked unprepared, lazy and confused.

Don’t get me wrong.  I love my Bolts.  But really guys?  I can’t even find a positive to post.  If you look at this totally unbiased, just by the numbers, there is no bright spot.  I guess you could say Keading got 100% of his field goals, but there was only one.  Oh wait, I forgot about Goody.  Richard Goodman actually made some decent returns and showed a lot of energy.  It’s too bad the rest of the team wasn’t following his lead.

I was this close to letting Norv Turner back into the circle of trust.  He had me fooled with games one and two.  I feel very foolish now.  Hal Hunter – you are officially out of the circle.  John Pagano – you are officially on the punch list.  When you see the defense playing like the game doesn’t matter you gotta get in their faces.  Our entire coaching staff appears to be the problem.

I do not feel like writing about how great the Falcons did here, but I feel obligated, if for no other reason that to write something positive.  The Falcons had 25 first downs, 384 yards and only two penalties for 15 yards.  Add that to their 27 points and you have a recipe for the win.

Everyone needs to wake up and realize that we have what it takes.  You have to motivate these guys before, during and after the game to get results.  Let’s shake this loss off and get it together for next weeks game at the Chiefs.  A must win.

Ya Mathews fumble was terrible timing and ya that was the turning point of the game…..but he did look really good. I am excited about that

I feel ya, Cindy! Here’s something positive… the Broncos also lost, and we are still in 1st place (YAY.. I think). But, we can’t count on them to do that all season. Kansas City didn’t look great yesterday, but Jamal Charles did! And, they did pulled off the win on the road. The only thing that consoles me, is the fact that the Niners lost to the Vikes, too (even though their loss was a road game.. not a homefield “good ole fashioned rear end-whoopin”). It shows me that even the best teams can look inept on any given week. However, they didn’t do it in such awful fashion, as we did. Here’s to shaking week 3 off, and taking out our frustrations in Arrowhead this week. Philip is probably thinking about taking his “worst day ever” comment back… the game against Atlanta this weekend was his worst day ever, IMHO. It was painful for everyone.
