Chargers Beat Titans: Dishonorable Dis-Charge

It is difficult to come up with a list of players that disappointed in a game that the Chargers blew out the Tennessee Titans, but here are a few guys that could have done a little bit more:

Ronnie Brown
Does he have anything left? How long will we stick with him? 4 carries for 8 yards.

Curtis Brinkley already took over the starting role responsibilities on Sunday, then in the second half of the game Jackie Battle showed that he should get more carries.

When Ryan Mathews returns, will Ronnie Brown be needed on this roster? I still am not comfortable with Battle or Brinkley taking over if Ryan has to sit, but feel even less comfortable with Ronnie.

Jacob Hester is still looking for a job. He probably could make more of an impact on the roster than Ronnie.

Larry English
No stats from Larry in the second straight game. I keep rooting for him, but he seems to be missing from the box score every game.

I still will hold out some hope that he will be able to contribute this season, but he has done nothing so far. At least he is not on the injury report yet.

Jared Gaither
There wasn’t much to complain about in this game, so might as well take another shot at Jared. Mike Harris hurt his leg in the game and still came back to continue playing.

The depth at o-line is thin and Gaither sitting on the sideline does not help, we have to figure out if he will be able to contribute this season or not. We need to have some sort of depth up front.

Anybody else that disappointed on Sunday?

B4 u rag on Brown I would have liked to see him run on the wore down titans d-line in the 4th like when Battle ran on them. Can’t really comepare the 4th to 1st quarter=. Harris and clary were getting bull rushed all 2nd quarter and mid third.

Despite the blowout, the team looked poor, at times, in the middle of the game.
And I couldn’t agree more about Battle getting the carries against a tired and bewildered Titan defense. That being said, I would have rather seen Brinkley over Brown if given the choice. I do understand the thinking of a bigger, physical back though. I am nowhere near ready to “crown” Battle as the next Tolbert. I liked what he did but you’re right. Can’t compare 4th quarter to the 1st.

Isn’t that the point of a run game though? To bleed the clock and end the game. Most of the big games you see from backs are big runs in the secon half, because collectively the offense wore them down, just offering a differing point of view. I believe if battle had started the game he would have had well over 100 yards, because he ran hard and still would have benefitted from the defense wearing down, they probably would have worn down faster.

I think there are many “points” of a running game. But I get what you are trying to say. Battle would have worn down as well had he started the game. All I’m saying is that I would have liked to have seen Brinkley get more late carries. Norv had a plan to bring in Battle in the fourth. It worked. No complaints here.

can i compare the raiders run defense against ronnie brown and that Raiders defense against the Miami Dolphins? Not comparing Brown to Bush, but that defense gave up 263 yards on the ground this week. How many yards did Brown get against them while he was the starter? He lost his spot to Brinkley after one game.

4 carries for 8 yards speak for itself
